A device for fastening a cable C to a post P, comprises a support member adapted to be firmly secured to the post, and a rigid casing F, for said cable comprising two elongate interengageable casing portions 9, 10 one of which portions is rigidly secured to said support member, said casing portions being adapted to embrace said cable therebetween and at least one pair of longitudinally interengageable edges 11, 12 of said casing portions being provided with mating teeth which cooperate in such manner that tension applied to said cable when embraced and gripped by said casing portions in operation will urge the lateral displacement of said casing portions from one another, and at least one extensible tensioning member 13 adapted to hold said casing portions together in operation, the or each such tensioning member being adapted to permit the complete disengagement of said casing portions from one another under a predetermined tension in said cable. In the construction shown two cables and two casings are provided and there are two tensioning members 13 each of which embraces both casings; when a single casing and cable is used however a rod is substituted for the second casing each member 13 embracing the casing and the rod. Each member 13 is a form of worm drive band clip and when the predetermined tension in the or one of the cables is exceeded the thread of the worm tears the portion of the strap of the clip which it engages from the remainder of the strap. The use of the device described is in road safety barriers or fences.
