An outer border of the expandable element moves or expands to reflect a number of recipients of a message to be sent from the device. The message transmit key of the device is contacted to cause the initiation of the message transmitted to each of the recipients, and a size of an inner region within the outer border is expanded to reflect a state of the message transmission to each of the recipients, wherein the size of the inner regions expands to fill an area within the outer border in order to send the message to each recipient.
