摘要： A method for operating a video system includes performing a visual surveillance tour of a predetermined control area with a pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) camera. The method also includes recording at least one video image frame of the predetermined control area. The method further includes recording at least one coordinate value associated with a predetermined coordinate system. The method also includes transmitting each of the at least one video image frame and the at least one coordinate value to at least one storage device. The method further includes indexing the at least one video image frame as a function of the at least one coordinate value. The method also includes retrieving the at least one video image frame based on the at least one coordinate value and displaying the at least one video image frame on at least one video display device.

The video camera assembly includes a video camera, a pan mechanism configured to rotate the video camera about a pan axis, a tilt mechanism coupled to the pan mechanism wherein the tilt mechanism is configured to rotate the video camera about a tilt axis, and a controller communicatively coupled to the pan and tilt mechanisms. The controller is configured to receive a first image of a view acquired from a first address, receive a second image of the view acquired from a second address wherein the second address is different from the first address, compare the first image to the second image, and determine an offset between the first address and the second address using the comparison.

The method also includes automatically determining whether a region of interest exists within the predetermined control area. The method further includes performing a second portion of the automated visual surveillance tour by shifting the induced movement of the at least one visual surveillance camera to a second camera tour speed. The method also includes automatically dwelling on the region of interest.

The system also includes a memory configured to store pan/tilt mechanism positional calibration information, and a controller communicatively coupled to the first pan/tilt mechanism configured to receive positional calibration information for the first pan/tilt mechanism, store the positional calibration information to the memory, retrieve the positional calibration information from the memory when the first pan/tilt mechanism is removed and replaced with the second pan/tilt mechanism, and download the retrieved positional calibration information for use by the second pan/tilt mechanism.

The keypad controller further includes a processor configured to decode codec independent video streams, said processor further comprising a module configured to receive and transmit streaming video data to a network, a synchronous memory interface, and a plurality of universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UARTs). The keypad controller also includes a universal serial bus (USB) interface.
