摘要: Methods are provided for preventing the delivery of undesired voicemails, which may occur when a voicemail is being left for a given user, and the given user calls back the user currently leaving the voicemail. An incoming call is received while a communications device is facilitating a recording of the voicemail. A voicemail system is instructed to prevent the voicemail from being delivered and also to terminate a suspended call corresponding to the recording of the voicemail. The incoming call is connected.

摘要: A method and system for dynamic selection of user plane or control plane signaling for mobile station location determination. A positioning system receives a request for the location of a mobile station and then makes a determination, based on one or more factors, of whether to employ user plane signaling or control plane signaling to obtain mobile station location data. The factors may include mobile station capability, mobile station call state, mobile station support for user plane signaling, mobile station support for simultaneous voice and data communication, time, precision of requested location, subscriber preference, failure of control plane or user plane signaling, and preference specified by the request, among others. Given the determination, the positioning system then employs the selected signaling mechanism.

摘要: A method and system for processing communications based on altitude is provided. When a network receives a request to connect a communication to or from a mobile station, the network will determine the mobile station's current altitude. The network can make this determination by acquiring a GPS reading of the mobile station's current location, which can include an indication of altitude as well as latitude and longitude. Based at least in part on the altitude, the network can then decide whether to allow the requested communication to proceed. For instance, if the altitude is greater than a predetermined threshold level, then the network may preclude the communication. A network can also take into consideration other factors in addition to the altitude of a mobile station, such as the latitude and longitude coordinates of the mobile station, in deciding whether to allow a requested communication to proceed.

摘要: A method and system for using physical presence as a basis to handle communications. A network includes a presence registry that indicates whether users are physically present at stations. Further, the network may include a user-station registry that indicates whether users are logically associated with stations. When a communication server receives a signals indicative of a communication, the server may query the presence registry to determine whether a user is physically present at a station. Based at least on the result of that query, the server may then establish a communication-handling decision, such as a decision of whether and where to route the communication or of some other action to take with respect to the communication. The server or another entity may then carry out the communication-handling decision.

摘要: A first communication device receives a communication from a second communication device. The communication could be part of the signaling used to establish a call to the second communication device or an audio signal that the second communication device conveys after its user has answered the call and started speaking. Based on the communication from the second communication device, the first communication device provides a user-discernible indication regarding the environment in which the second communication device is being used, such as an indication that the second communication device is being used with a speakerphone. If the second communication device is being used in a vehicle, the first communication device may also provide a user-discernible indication regarding the operational status of the vehicle, such as whether the vehicle is in motion and/or the number of occupants in the vehicle.

摘要: A method and system for selecting a coverage area in which a given mobile station should operate. The system will receive user ratings of call quality per coverage area. The system will then use the received user ratings as a basis to select a coverage area in which the given mobile station should operate. The system will then cause the given mobile station to operate in the selected coverage area. By using these user ratings as a basis to select a coverage area in which the given mobile station should operate, the system can help improve call quality overall for users, thus increasing user satisfaction with wireless performance.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer-readable media for generating a voice characteristic profile based on detected sound components. In embodiments, a call is initiated between a first caller and a second caller. Information communicated during the call is monitored to determine that sound components have been spoken by the first caller. The sound components are determined to be associated with a language dialect. Further, the sound components are stored in association with the first caller. In particular, the sound components are stored in association with the first caller in a voice characteristic profile of the first caller.

摘要: Computer-readable media and methods are provided for identifying a mobile device as a legitimate subscriber to a communications network or as a clone device. A clone device is not legitimately subscribed to the network but poses as a legitimate device to gain usage of the legitimate mobile device's subscribed services. An application on the legitimate mobile device tracks call detail data for calls of the mobile device. The mobile device has a unique identifier. A network server compares the tracked call detail data against a master list of call detail data for the unique identifier. A mismatch between the mobile device's call detail data and the master list indicates a potential clone. A mobile device using the unique identifier but not providing substantially matching call detail data is identified as a clone. Countermeasures are provided to defeat the clone's usage of the network.
