Abstract: A method for automatically starting an audio recording that includes receiving audio data and dividing the audio data into a first set of consecutive segments and a second set of consecutive segments that occur after the first set. The method further includes analyzing the first set of segments by measuring an average energy and peak value for each segment of the first set and determining a silence score therefrom, and analyzing the second set of segments by measuring an average energy and peak value for each segment of the second set and determining an music score therefrom. The method begins a recording of the audio data if the silence score is above a first predetermined value and the music score is above a second predetermined value.

Abstract: A platform or system is disclosed for performing musical analysis to detect musical properties in received live or pre-recorded audio data. The analysis can include a synchronous analysis for generating estimated one or more transitory musical properties and an asynchronous analysis for generating one or more aggregate musical properties which can be applied to the transitory musical properties to generate confirmed musical properties, which can be stored as metadata associated with an audio file. In some cases, live audio data can be received, recorded, dynamically analyzed to provide realtime metadata (e.g., to a display), then the realtime metadata can be analyzed to provide confirmed, updated, or validated metadata. In some cases, initial analysis (e.g., dynamic analysis) can determine chord estimates, usable in further analysis (e.g., offline analysis) to estimate a musical key, which can then be applied to the chord estimates to determine the most likely chord estimates and determine chord progressions.

Abstract: Processor-implemented methods and systems for polyphonic note detection are disclosed. The method includes converting a portion of a polyphonic audio signal from a time domain to a frequency domain. The method includes detecting a fundamental frequency peak in the frequency domain. The method then detects a defined number of integer-interval harmonic partials. If a defined number of integer-interval harmonic partials relative to the fundamental frequency peak are detected the fundamental frequency is recorded as a detected note. This process is repeated for each fundamental frequency until each note in the polyphonic audio signal has been detected. For example, this method allows detection of each note in a strummed guitar chord to provide feedback on the tuning of each string in a strummed chord or allows detection and feedback of the timing and pitch errors for guitar chords played along with a reference track.
