Abstract: Methods and apparatus for monitoring locally inserted media are disclosed. A disclosed apparatus includes instructions to detect, at a media device at an end user location, a frequency of a watermark that was spliced into a primary media stream received at the media device after the primary media stream was received at the end user location, associate identifying tags with segments of the primary media stream that were spliced, in response to the detection of the watermark, determine an advertisement associated with the segments of the primary media based on the identifying tags, present the primary media at a first time and the advertisement at second times, record a log including first identifying information including an identity of the content of the primary media and second identifying information including a change in the frequency of the watermark corresponding to the advertisement; and transmit the log to a data collection facility.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for displaying a sequence of video items on an electronic device. During playback of a current video item, a dismissal input such as a swipe or tap/click is received via a user input mechanism, indicating that display of the current video item is to be ceased and that display of the next video item in the sequence is to be commenced. In response to the dismissal input, summary information is displayed on the display screen, providing non-video communication of an informational payload of the current video item. A timer is started at the commencement of display of the summary information, at the expiry of which display of the next video item is to be commenced. In response to a resumption input such as a touchscreen tap or cursor click on the summary information before expiry of the timer, playback of the current video item is resumed via the display screen.

Abstract: In an example implementation, a method is described. The implementation accesses first and second media clips. The implementation also matches a first fingerprint of the first media clip with a second fingerprint of the second media clip and determines an overlap of the first media clip with the second media clip. The implementation also, based on the overlap, merges the first and second media clips into a group of overlapping media clips, transmits, to a client device, data identifying the group of overlapping media clips and specifying a synchronization of the first media clip with the second media clip, and generates for display on a display device of the client computing device, a graphical user interface that identifies the group of overlapping media clips, specifies the synchronization of the first media clip with the second media clip, and allows access to, and manipulation of, the first and second media clips.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for displaying a thumbnail preview of video content. In an aspect, one or more mosaic images made up of thumbnails corresponding to frames of the video content at multiple time points can be loaded into the system or created by the methods described. In an aspect, the selected thumbnail, as well as any other thumbnails, can be selected in response to receiving a command (e.g., trick play request) from the viewer. The command can dictate the direction from the selected thumbnail that the next thumbnails will be selected. The command can also dictate the frequency with which thumbnails will be selected from the mosaic image. In an aspect, frames comprised of thumbnails can be encoded to create the video content.

Abstract: A system is provided that presents video content on an electronic device such that, when a user swipes to dismiss the video content, non-video summary information or contextual material about the video content is automatically displayed in place of the video content. The non-video summary information is presented on a summary card dragged on-screen responsive to user swipe input. If, for example, the user swipes to dismiss a video advertisement before an informational payload of the video advertisement has been delivered, the informational payload can automatically be displayed in text format on a summary card dragged by the user in replacement of the dismissed video advertisement.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an audio blending system with a computing device that processes operations including receiving a transition request from a user including an out element and/or an in element of at least one transition between at least one content item of at least one recipe. The recipe includes a sequence of a plurality of elements of content of a break, where at least one content item includes audio content and/or video content. The operations include causing a track server to couple to a metadata file of the audio file using a wired or wireless link. The metadata file includes audio content parameters measured or calculated from the audio file. The operations include calculating a transition between the out element and the in element, selecting, assembling and scheduling the sequence of plurality of elements for the transition, and adding the out element to the at least one recipe.
