    摘要: A ring gasket is retained in position on a pipe connector flange with the ring gasket properly positioned for sealing engagement and loading between opposed circular grooves in the flange and a mating flange or member. The ring gasket is supported on one of the connector parts by a spacer ring or by a portion of the flange which effects a standoff between the connector parts when they are connected. In the case of a separate spacer ring, it is connected to the flange or supported adjacent to the groove by a support member adapted to be hand-held. The support for the ring gasket includes elements frictionally engaging or biting into the outer periphery of the ring gasket. The ring gasket has outer peripheral, oppositely tapered sealing surfaces loaded into sealing engagement with opposing companion surfaces forming the grooves in the flanges upon making up of the connection.

    摘要: A misalignment connector has a pair of hubs providing internal, opposed spherical surfaces loaded into engagement with an internal, metal sealing ring having a spherical, outer sealing surface, the hubs being constrained together to maintain loading of the seal ring over a range of angles of misalignment. The internal seal ring is initially retained in position with respect to one of the hubs and is shiftable for proper sealing and loading engagement by the hubs over the range of permissible misalignment. The metal-to-metal seal between the hubs and the seal ring is backed up by a resilient seal. The metal seal ring has an outer peripheral projection forming a connection for the retainer, and the projection is engageable by the hubs to angularly shift the seal ring during assembly.

    摘要: A lamp lock for assembly of a fluorescent lamp with a lamp fixture is provided. A wafer-like body portion is made of electrically insulating material capable of use in the temperature range experienced by bi-pins of the fluorescent lamp. In use, the body portion is inserted between an axial end of the lamp and an adjacent face of the lamp fixture. The body portion has a leading edge and is provided with a slot extending through the leading edge for reception of the bi-pins. The lock further has a first lateral edge for sliding proximal engagement with a planar surface proximate to the lamp fixture for preventing the lock and the lamp from rotating, thereby securing the lamp to the lamp fixture. Preferably, the slot extends between, and in parallel alignment with, the first lateral edge and a second lateral edge of the body portion, such that the distance between the first lateral edge and the slot is greater than the distance between the second lateral edge and the slot. In this way, the lock may be used with at least two types or sizes of lamp fixtures, each of which having different spacing between the lamp holder surface and the bi-pins.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are described for the installation and removal of a ring gasket from a ring gasket retainer assembly which forms a part of an underwater wellhead connection. A buoyant ring gasket installation tool, tethered to an underwater vehicle, carries the gasket to the wellhead connection. Due to the buoyancy of the installation tool it floats above the underwater vehicle. By proper placement of the tool beneath an opening defined upwardly through the wellhead connection the tool may float the ring gasket upwardly through the opening and position the ring gasket properly with respect to the ring gasket retainer assembly, which may then be actuated to retain the gasket within the underwater wellhead connection.

The metal sealing ring is initially supported on one of the hubs by means enabling relative angular motion of the sealing ring as it is loaded between misaligned hubs. The hubs are provided with thrust surfaces enabling them to be initially preloaded against the sealing ring by a loading tool.

    摘要: A seal apparatus adapted to be set in packed-off condition in the annular region between the hanger body and the surrounding wellhead housing disposed at the upper end of a well bore, the seal apparatus then being locked in its packed-off condition by a locking ring and a locking ring actuator. A retrieving tool is employed to release the lock ring, such tool having resilient fingers engageable with the actuator to elevate it from wedging relation to the lock ring and permitting the latter to expand from its locked condition, whereupon the retrieving tool can elevate the seal apparatus, lock ring, and actuator from the region between the hanger body and wellhead housing. The retrieving tool includes a body having passages from which washing fluid can discharge to clean the region between the hanger body and wellhead housing. In one form of retrieving tool, the resilient fingers may be released from the actuator in response to fluid pressure supplied through a running string secured to the retrieving tool.
