Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for manufacturing and using roofing membranes that are faster and easier to install than conventional adhesive-only membrane materials. In some embodiments, membrane materials are surface treated using a plasma flow, e.g., a blown-arc plasma flow, atmospheric plasma, corona plasma, or from portable plasma units, generated by passing a compressed plasma-generating gas through an electrical current to form the plasma-treated roofing membrane. The plasma treatments described herein may be applied as part of the manufacturing process, or in-situ at the site of roof installation. In some embodiments, membrane materials have surface chemistries, roughnesses and other surface characteristics that yield desired adhesion properties.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an adhesive formulation comprising a high viscosity silyl modified polymer. In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may further comprise additional components, such as but not limited to, at least one moisture scavenger, at least one adhesion promoter, at least one catalyst, at least one filler, at least one plasticizer, at least one antioxidant, or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may exclude a low viscosity polymer. In some embodiments, the adhesive formulation may include a low viscosity polymer in no more than a specified amount. At least one method of using the adhesive formulation and at least one roofing system comprising the adhesive formulation are also described herein.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and system of applying a fluid material to a roofing surface. By modifying a peristaltic pump-driven sprayer device, a fluid material having a viscosity of 10,000 to 40,000 centipoise at 25° C. can be effectively sprayed onto a roofing surface. Additionally, the use of a modified peristaltic pump-driven sprayer device allows for the fluid material to be applied onto the roofing surface at a faster rate than other spraying methods.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of a thermoplastic polyolefin membrane are provided. The colored TPO membrane can have a cap layer having a top color layer and a white sub-layer having a solar reflectance underneath the top color layer, and a core layer underneath the cap layer. The colored TPO roofing membrane can have a reinforcing polyester scrim between the cap layer and the core layer. The white sub-layer can be made up of one or more layers.
