摘要: A valve for diluting and activating polymer molecules used in wastewater treatment is designed to divert a desired amount of dilution water around the primary dilution and activation apparatus to the inlet of the secondary dilution apparatus. Water in the valve passes through a slot which extends through about 180 degrees. The ends of the slots have square corners, so that the total volume of water which passes through the valve and the relative proportion of water which passes through the primary and secondary activation apparatus can be adjusted independently of each other. In this manner, a control system can be used which only requires information regarding the total amount of water supplied to the system in order to execute operator instructions as to the total volume of water required and the proportions of water to be supplied to the primary and secondary dilution apparatus.

摘要: A polymer feed system comprises at least one mixing and activating apparatus having a water inlet, a polymer inlet and an outlet and constructed and arranged to dilute and fully activate a polymer. The polymer feed system further comprises a conduit for carrying water to the water inlet of the mixing and activating apparatus. A conduit is coupled between the outlet of the mixing and activating apparatus and the first conduit. Activated polymer merges with the remainder of the water and is mixed in a static mixer.

摘要: An exercise pool for animals having an entry thereto and an exit therefrom with a hollow island mounted centrally thereof and extending upwardly therefrom, a filtering area and a solids pit in the island with a screen disposed therebetween, a skimming gutter at the upper end of the island having an inlet at the surface of the pool of water and an outlet to the solids pit, a pump for pumping water from the pool through the solids pit and the filtering area and back into the pool through the lower portion of the island, water filtering mechanism in the filtering area for filtering the current of water flowing therethrough, water treatment mechanism for treating the water flowing through the island to maintain the chlorine content and the pH thereof within predetermined limits, and a main drain in the lower portion of the island to draw water from the pool and upwardly to the solids pit when the water level within the island falls to a predetermined level; there also is disclosed a self-contained island for mounting in animal exercise pools.

摘要: An aquatic exercise facility for animals including a pool of water having an animal entry area and an animal exit area in alignment with a portion of the pool therebetween of a depth sufficient to require the animal to swim thereacross, mechanism for pumping water to establish a current from the animal exit area toward the animal entry area, the pumping mechanism having an inlet and an outlet for water thereto and a control for controlling the amount of water pumped thereby, a return channel for water disposed on either side of the pool for returning water from the animal entry area to the inlet to the pumping mechanism, and adjustable flow control structure disposed between the deep portion of the pool and the return channels for adjusting the rate of flow of water therebetween; also disclosed are directing vanes at the outlets from the pumping mechanism to direct the current to provide a higher velocity along the sides of the pool than in the middle thereof; there further is disclosed an improved water filtration and treatment system for use with such facilities as well as an improved channel structure.

摘要: Apparatus for diluting and activating polymer molecules includes primary polymer dilution and activation apparatus, secondary dilution apparatus, and apparatus for diverting a desired amount of dilution water around the primary dilution and activation apparatus to the secondary dilution apparatus. The primary dilution and activation apparatus includes a cylindrical first processing zone in which the polymer and dilution water are initially mixed. The first processing zone subjects the polymer molecules to relatively high shear conditions for a relatively short period of time, after which the solution passes into a second cylindrical or annular processing zone in which the solution is subjected to continuously decreasing shear forces over a longer period of time. When the solution leaves the primary activation apparatus, it flows into the secondary activation apparatus, which is a static mixer.A valve diverts a desired amount of dilution water around the primary dilution and activation apparatus to the inlet of the secondary dilution apparatus. Water in the valve passes through a slot which extends through about 180 degrees. The ends of the slots have square corners, so that the total volume of water which passes through the valve and the relative proportion of water which passes through the primary and secondary activation apparatus can be adjusted independently of each other. In this manner, a control system can be used which only requires information regarding the total amount of water supplied to the system in order to execute operator instructions as to the total volume of water required and the proportions of water to be supplied to the primary and secondary dilution apparatus.

摘要: Portable mixing apparatus is disclosed which is specially adapted for use in containers such as standard 55 gallon drums and the like which have an opening or "bung" near an edge of the container. A mounting plate is provided which has a threaded end secured in the bung, and a flange secured at a selected angle to the threaded end. A collapsible propeller and mixing shaft pass into the container through the threaded end and a motor operatively connected to the mixing shaft is secured to the mounting plate around the container opening by spaced bolts which pass through and lock into keyhole slots in the mounting plate. The motor, mixing shaft and propeller are secured at an angle so that the propeller is in a selected quadrant near the axis, and preferably also the bottom, of the container. The apparatus can easily be installed and removed without twisting or tangling the power cord.

摘要: The mixing apparatus includes a centrifugal pump having a casing and an impeller located therein. The casing has a axially extending tubular inlet located centrally on its end wall, the discharge being a tubular projection on the side wall's casing. A second casing substantially identical to the casing of the pump, has a tubular projection on one of its end walls coupled to the inlet of the first mentioned casing. Water is delivered to a tubular projection on the side wall of the second casing. Particulate polymer is delivered to the other end wall of the second casing. The swirling water in the second casing creates a lower pressure at its discharge to draw the polymer downwardly and into the first casing where it is vigorously mixed with the water.
