摘要: Group message delivery in a time multiplexed paging system is accomplished by providing in normal message packets a group ring indicator. A paging device collecting a message interrogates the group ring indicator to determine availability of a pending group message. If a group message is available, the paging device can target a dedicated time slot associated with group message transmission. In this manner, a single transmission of a group message is made available to all paging devices of the paging system. In one embodiment, the group ring indicator is a single bit indicating merely availability of a pending group message, the paging device then targeting and collecting the available group message to determine whether the paging device subscribes to that particular group message service. In a second embodiment, the group ring indicator indicates not only availability of a group message, but also the type of group message available. The paging device thereby determines based on the value of the group indicator whether the indicated available group message need be pursued.

摘要: A paging receiver as part of an analog wristwatch. A received paging message is displayed using an analog watch mechanism which includes hands that are independently controllable. Around the perimeter of the watch face or on the watch bezel are marks representing paging messages, such as "Call Home", "Call Office" etc. Paging messages are displayed by using one of the hands which normally is used to indicate time to point to one of the marks or messages on the perimeter of the watch. Optional features include using the watch hands not used to point to a mark representing a received paging message to point to a predetermined location to alert the user that a message has been received and using an LED can be used to indicate that a message has been received or that a message is pending. Other analog mechanisms, such as disks, drums, and sliding bars visible through respective apertures in the watch face can be used to display information concerning paging messages. These other analog mechanisms can be moved such that a selected mark is visible through the respective aperture in response to receiving a paging message.

摘要: A wristwatch paging receiver is provided with an antenna matching network that automatically retunes the network at the beginning of a listening interval. During the retuning operation, a control signal is applied to a variable tuning element in the matching network, such as a varactor diode, and is swept from a minimum value to a maximum value. This sweeping is desirably performed in discrete voltage steps that correspond to unit increments of varactor capacitance. A feedback signal from the receiver, such as an AGC signal, is monitored during this operation to note which varactor bias signal yields the maximum AGC signal. After the sweep is concluded, the apparatus applies to the varactor the bias voltage that yielded the maximum AGC signal during the sweeping operation. This bias voltage is maintained through the end of the listening interval. At the beginning of the next listening interval, the process may be repeated.

摘要: Selectable receiver addressing is used to control how messages are output from different receivers. Users selectively enable and disable personal addresses in the receiver. The receiver polls time slots where the data for enabled addresses may be transmitted. Enabled addresses are compared with transmitted receiver addresses. If the transmitted address matches one of the enabled receiver addresses, the message is output to the receiver user. If the transmitted address does not match the receiver address, the message is not processed and, accordingly, the receiver operator is not disturbed.

摘要: A utensil holder, supported by a vessel or container, permits a hand held utensil to be held until needed. The utensil for stirring or servicing or other operations is held conveniently above the vessel in a position which permits any residual contents from the vessel on the utensil to fall back into the vessel. A device to securely attach the utensil holder on the container is provided by an inner finger and outer spring arm with an upper stabilizer joined to the bottom end of the spring arm.

摘要: A combined audio receiver and data receiver act in cooperation to serve audio presentation, digital collateral data presentation, and paging functions. The data receiver activates intermittently according to a time-division multiplexed broadcast protocol to receive paging data during brief time slots. At other times, the data receiver tunes to a frequency matching that of the audio receiver to receive digital collateral data descriptive of the audio presentation.

摘要: The invention is directed to a dynamically reconfigurable network comprising a plurality of nodes having respective transmitters and receivers for transmitting and receiving respective signals to and from one another. In one embodiment, the network is adapted to determine whether a first maximum power can be found at which a first node can transmit a first signal that provides a minimum signal-to-noise ratio at a second node without exceeding a maximum signal-to-noise ratio that a third node requires to simultaneously receive a second signal from a fourth node. If the first maximum power cannot be found, the network is further adapted to cause the first, second, third, and fourth nodes to share a single sub-network. Alternatively, if the first maximum power can be found, the network is adapted to cause the first and second nodes to share a single sub-network that the third node is not permitted to share.
