摘要: A downhole imaging tool and method of operating the tool in a wellbore. An imaging sensor array at an end of the tool is rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the tool to image the well by sweeping out a 2D area of the well. Actuators in the tool provide rotation and/or extension of the sensor array to change perspective. An ultrasound phased-array may be used to measure and identify features of the well or objects.

摘要: A device and method used to log images of cylindrical fluid filled tubulars with ultrasound transducers. The transducers operate as phased arrays, insonifying the conduit at plural angles. Reflections from the conduit form images that are combined to create a compound image or correct eccentricity. The frame rate is sped up by defocusing the transmitted beam. This allows the device to log very long pipelines, wells or other tubulars with very high resolution.

摘要: A device and method used to correct beamforming of an acoustic phased array in cases of eccentricity of the acoustic device in a tubular. A processor calculates the eccentricity from multiple scan lines and create a geometric model of a well or pipe relative to the device. The processor may correct each scan line's focus and/or angle of incidence at a surface of the well or pipe based on the observed eccentricity.
