Abstract: A system and method is provided for obtaining ultrasound images of an interior of an object that includes an image processing unit that receives and processes acquired ultrasound scan data to create ultrasound images derived from ultrasound image data, a motion detection system configured to detect a pattern of inactivity time frames within movement cycles of the object and an ultrasound imaging probe operably connected to the image processing unit to acquire the ultrasound scan data for use by the image processing unit to form the ultrasound images. The motion detection system detects a pattern of one or more inactivity time frames within a first cycle of movement of the object, obtains ultrasound volumetric scan data of the object during the inactivity time frame within a second cycle of movement of the object, and calibrates a location of a scan plane of the ultrasound image within the volumetric ultrasound image.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for performing automated measurements on medical images. In one example, a method includes acquiring a first ultrasound image and a second ultrasound image in accordance with a patient exam workflow, wherein the patient exam workflow calls for one or more measurements including a first measurement to be obtained on at least the first ultrasound image, automatically assessing whether the first ultrasound image is suitable for obtaining the first measurement during a time period where the second ultrasound image is being acquired, and if the first ultrasound image is automatically assessed as being unsuitable for obtaining the first measurement, automatically prompting the user, while the second ultrasound image is still being acquired, to reacquire the first ultrasound image.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an objective image quality metric of an image loop of ultrasound images after acquisition of the image loop and prior to permanently storing the image loop is provided. The method includes processing, by at least one processor of the ultrasound system after the stop performing the acquisition by the ultrasound probe, the image loop of the plurality of ultrasound images to generate an objective image quality metric. The method includes causing, by the at least one processor, a display system to present a visual representation of the objective image quality metric.

Abstract: An automated measurement system for an ultrasound and/or echocardiographic imaging system enhances reproducibility of measurement results and accommodates form movement in the measurement of the images by combining measurements across multiple cardiac cycles/multiple echocardiogram images. The automated system provides these benefits by initially selecting the cardiac images/cycles for which valid measurements can be obtained within constraints defined by the automated system. With these selected cycles, the automated system then combines the measurements from the selected cycles into a global measurement for the desired parameter or parameters for the combined cycles. This measurement(s) can then be presented to the operator in conjunction with the image or cycle representation for the cycle best approximating the global measurement results, optionally along with the results for the deviation of the combined measurements in the form of display icons representing the deviation from the illustrated cycle image.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying a sequence of image frames as a cine-loop with multiple playback speeds. Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system and method of ultrasound imaging. The method includes initiating a live ultrasound scanning session and saving a first sequence of images in a volatile memory. The method includes receiving a store command while in a retrospective image capture mode during the live ultrasound scanning session. The method includes detecting that the first sequence of images does not meet a length threshold and automatically continuing to acquire a second sequence of images. The method includes detecting that the combination of the first sequence of images and the second sequence of images meets or exceeds the length threshold and saving a third sequence of images as a cineloop in a non-volatile memory, the third sequence of images including both at least a portion of the first sequence of images and at least a portion of the second sequence of images.
