Abstract: A domestic cooking range having an outer range casing supporting a sealed cooktop, an underlying heat cleaning oven and a control housing with a vented splash panel that overlies the back edge of the appliance. A blower, energized during oven heat-cleaning, draws room air through inlet ports in framing means along the sides and top of the oven door for movement into a horizontally extending air flow passageway beneath the cooktop and conveyed by plenum duct means for exhaustion via the vented splash panel to the room. Valve means are provided in the top door frame which permits the blower to draw room air into the passageway through the inlet ports in the framing means along the top edge of the door during oven heat-cleaning. The valve means are normally closed when the oven door is opened to prevent the entry of cooking fumes into the passageway during a broiling operation.
