Abstract:
A self-excited brushless alternator having a rotating field excited by an alternating current exciter whose armature rotates with the field winding of the alternator and is permanently connected to that winding by a rotating field rectifier. To obtain reliable regulation over a wind range of load and power factors, at least one exciter stator primary winding is magnetically coupled to at least one exciter rotator secondary winding which is connected by the rectifier to the main field. Primary excitation direct current for the exciter is derived by a magnetic coupling from a rotary auxiliary magnetic field produced by a feedback winding connected in series with the main field winding and rotating therewith. Preferably, current paths for the exciter primary excitation are different during and after build-up.
Abstract:
A range of motion limiting device, in one example comprising a first armature configured to engage a carriage moving on at least one rail having a first surface and a second surface transversely offset from the first surface of the rail. Also disclosed is an example utilizing a first bumper adjacent the first longitudinal end of the first armature. The first bumper extending transversely from the first transverse side of the first armature, optionally having a distal end with a non-slip surface engaging the first surface of a rail. Also disclosed is a second bumper longitudinally offset from the first bumper on the first armature, the second bumper extending transversely from the second transverse side of the first armature, also optionally having a distal end with a non-slip surface engaging the second surface of the rail.
Abstract:
A shuttle training and therapy device including in one example: a floor standing fame having a headward end and a footward end; a carriage slidably attached to the frame; a resistance system of elastic cords attached to the footward end of the frame; the elastic cords selectively attached to the carriage; and a range of motion limiting system comprising a control cord having a first end attached to the carriage, a second end selectively attached to the frame, and an intermediate portion attached to an elastic member attached to the carriage.
Abstract:
The disclosure recites an apparatus having a kick plate that is adapted to be stored in an operable position where it is in a substantially vertically orientated manner where the kick plate is in a more vertically orientated or positioned orientation with respect to a frame and a carriage is movably attached in a substantially horizontal direction where a resistance system provides resistant movement of the carriage with respect to the frame. The kick plate is further adapted or operatively configured to be re-orientated in a stowed position where an upper surface of the kick plate operates in conjunction with an upper surface of the carriage to function as a table like support.

Abstract:
In general, the disclosure recites an apparatus having a kick plate that is adapted to be stored in an operable position where it is in a substantially vertically orientated manner where the kick plate is in a more vertically orientated or positioned orientation with respect to a frame and a carriage is movably attached in a substantially horizontal direction where a resistance system provides resistant movement of the carriage with respect to the frame. The kick plate is further adapted or operatively configured to be re-orientated in a stowed position where an upper surface of the kick plate operates in conjunction with an upper surface of the carriage to function as a table like support.
Abstract:
The exercise apparatus comprises a frame and a carriage. A resistance system resists movement of the carriage with respect to the frame and the longitudinally headward direction. The resistance system allows the resistance to be changed at the head end portion of the frame and further does not require elastic members to travel with the carriage when they are not use. The rebound system that adjusts the range of motion of the carriage comprises two flexible members attached to the carriage and the frame and a resistance member is attached to a central portion of the flexible members and resists lateral seperation of the central portions of the flexible members.
Abstract:
An inkjet printer includes a plastic platen and a structural member extending upward from the base of the printer. The printing surface is supported by the upper surface of the structural member. This surface is held flat to within very tight tolerances. The bottom of the platen printing surface is retained against this surface so that it conforms to the shape of this surface structural member to create a substantially flat printing surface.
