Abstract: Disclosed is a cutter module to be used with a printing apparatus. The cutter module comprises a blade driving mechanism; and a rotary cutting blade driven by the blade driving mechanism. The blade driving mechanism comprises: a clutch mechanism selectively to enable the blade driving mechanism to drive the rotary cutting blade in a forward cutting direction or a backward direction. Also disclosed is a printing system comprising the cutter module and a method to be used with the cutter module.

Abstract: Examples of print media cutting procedures and devices are described. The print media is cut with a first cutting module while the print medium is advanced through the device. The print media is then reversed before being cut with a second cutting module. The first cutting module can be moved laterally at the same time as the print medium is moved in the reverse direction.

Abstract: A height adjustment apparatus for a print carriage comprises a support for supporting the print carriage and a moving mechanism. The support has an upper support surface configured to slidingly engage a surface of the print carriage. The height of the support surface in a first direction increases in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction. The moving mechanism is configured to move the support in the second direction, wherein when the support is moved in the second direction, the print carriage surface is configured to slide relative to the support surface to move the print carriage in the first direction.

Abstract: A cutter assembly for a printable medium comprises a cutter to cut the printable medium, a trench adjacent to the cutter, and a trench cover, the trench cover at least partially covering the trench. The trench cover is movable between a supporting configuration to support the printable medium, and an open configuration to receive portions of the printable medium in the trench. The cutter assembly comprises an elastic element for biasing the trench cover towards the supporting configuration. The cutter comprises an engaging element and the engaging element engages the trench cover to move the trench cover from the supporting configuration towards the open configuration.

A drive mechanism is provided to drive the movable element in the direction of advance of the media sheet along the output tray.

Abstract: A handoff mechanism for use with a media stacker of a media production apparatus comprises a plurality of kicker units (101) arranged across a width of the handoff mechanism. A common drive mechanism (103) is provided to move the plurality of kicker units (101) between a closed position and an open position. Each kicker unit (101), when in the closed position during use, applies a pressure to any media sheets that are already stacked in a stacker tray (105) while a new media sheet is being fed to the stacker tray. The pressure provided by each kicker unit (101) is independent of the pressure provided by the other kicker units.
