Abstract: Provided is a distributed storage system which can reduce a load on a network between storage apparatuses when an access request is received and improve responsiveness. In the distributed storage system, the storage device includes a data area and a cache area; a node becomes an owner node when receiving a transfer of charge of an LU from another node in a non-storage state where LU data is not stored in a data area; the processor of the owner node receives a read request for an LU that is in charge, obtains data of a target area based on data of the storage device of another node when the data of the target area is not stored in the data area or the cache area of the owner node, and transmits the data to a request source and stores it in a cache area.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a storage system includes a representative node and a plurality of general nodes including a plurality of resources. Each of the general nodes stores resource status information indicating respective statuses of the plurality of resources in a first storage unit thereof. The representative node stores resource status information collected from the plurality of general nodes in a second storage unit thereof, decides whether to acquire the resource status information from the first storage unit of the general node or to acquire the resource status information from the second storage unit based on a received request, and transmits the resource status information acquired from a decided acquisition destination to an issuing source of the request.

Abstract: A storage system having high performance and high reliability includes a non-volatile storage device, a storage controller configured to control data to be read and written from and to the storage device using a storage function; and a volatile memory. In collecting a free area of the memory, the storage controller executes a base image saving method of writing in the storage device in units of storage areas having a plurality of logs and collecting a free area, and a garbage collection method of writing in the storage device in units of logs and collecting a free area.

Abstract: One or a plurality of physical storage devices that provide a physical storage area are connected to first and second computers. The computer updates metadata indicating the address correspondence relationship between the logical address of the volume and the physical address of the physical storage area in the write processing performed based on a write request designating the volume. The first computer copies the metadata to the second computer while receiving the write request. When the address correspondence relationship indicated by the copied metadata portion is changed during copying of the metadata, the first computer updates the metadata portion and copies the metadata portion to the second computer.

Abstract: This invention provides a storage system enabling it to properly rebuild a storage device involved in failure. In the storage system, a controller repairs data for which an access request has been issued, returns a reply to the source of the access request, and stores the repaired data. As regards data for which access is not requested, the controller executes rebuilding of storage regions corresponding to rebuild management units in priority-based order and changes priority for executing the rebuilding, based on access frequencies for a first period and access frequencies for a second period that is shorter than the first period.
