摘要: A medical lancing device including a replaceable multi-lancet cartridge. The lancing device includes a drive mechanism, an activation mechanism, and an advancing mechanism. The advancing mechanism includes a linear-pull slide that is moved in and out to operate an indexing ratchet mechanism, a cam-guided charger mechanism, and a cam-guided lancet cap displacement mechanism. The indexing ratchet mechanism sequentially advances the lancets in the cartridge to an active position. The cam-guided charger mechanism charges the drive mechanism and separates the cap from the active lancet. And the cam-guided cap displacement mechanism moves the separated cap from the lancing stroke path of the active lancet. The activation mechanism then releases the charged active lancet to traverse the unobstructed lancing stroke path to pierce the subject's skin at a desired lancing site.

摘要: A blood sampling device is provided with a housing, a lancet assembly, a lancet holder disposed in the housing for supporting the lancet assembly, the lancet holder being movable in a lancing direction between a cocked position and a puncture position, a drive spring for forcing the lancet holder from the cocked position to the puncture position, and a mechanism for damping movement of the lancet holder during travel of the lancet holder from the puncture position to an intermediate position between the puncture position and the cocked position. The damping mechanism may be provided in the form of a non-planar surface, such as a corrugated surface, disposed on the lancet holder and a damping member which makes contact with the non-planar surface during movement of the lancet holder.

摘要: A blood sampling device is provided with a housing, a lancet assembly, a lancet holder which is movable in a lancing direction between a cocked position and a puncture position, and an actuator mechanism disposed in the housing for causing the lancet holder to move from the cocked position to the puncture position. The lancet assembly has a lancet with a sharp tip, a lancet body having at least two angularly spaced ribs which extend outwardly from a central portion of the lancet body, and a protective cap covering the sharp tip of the lancet, the protective cap being attached to the lancet body so that the protective cap is twistably removable from the lancet body. The lancet holder has an aperture formed therein, the aperture having a cylindrical shape and being substantially unobstructed so that the lancet body may be inserted into the aperture in any angular orientation relative to the lancet holder, and the blood sampling device includes a mechanism for preventing significant rotational movement of the lancet body relative to the lancet holder when the lancet body is disposed in the aperture formed in the lancet holder and when the protective cap is subject to an angular force sufficient to twist the protective cap off of the lancet body.
