    摘要: A system and method for clustering data from a server computer and sent to a client computer. The server computer obtains a requested cluster size for the client computer. The requested cluster size includes the optimal size cluster the client computer can handle and the largest manageable cluster size that can be handled by the client. Fuzzy logic computations are performed on the data to determine an optimal cluster size and an optimal point at which to split the data for the particular client. Part of the cluster computations are based upon the affinity of individual data items to adjacent data items in the clustered list. The server computer also checks the affinity between the item with the largest score and the first item in the next cluster. If this affinity is higher than other affinity scores within the cluster, the cluster split is moved accordingly. Once an optimal cluster is determined, the data is transmitted from the server computer to the client computer.

The system includes a master controller that listens to communications between a utility meter and the reading system. The controller receives tier and/or pricing information and will instruct a load control unit to interrupt certain loads based on the information. In addition, the system may be employed as a load shedding system where a command may be forwarded to the master controller to disconnect loads based on action levels. The command may be sent via a TCP/IP communications system to a node in the reading system and the forwarded via a radio network to the master controller to reduce latency. Predictive shedding may be performed based on forecast loads.

In the event of a power distribution system fault, the reclosers act in accordance to a predefined restoration scheme to reanimate the unaffected portions of the failing power distribution system.

    摘要: A recloser trips on one phase for single-phase only fault conditions, or all phases for multi-phase fault conditions. During power delivery, the recloser monitors the three phases of a power line (e.g., phases A, B, and C). If a fault is detected on one phase, then a timer is started and subsequently decremented. If the timer finishes counting down while the fault is still present, then it is determined if any of the other two phases are timing a fault. If so, then all three phases are tripped; otherwise, only the faulted phase is tripped.

    摘要: An accurate impedance measurement method for a power system transmission line is disclosed for improving various protection functions, i.e., distance protection and/or fault location estimation. The method is less sensitive to harmonics and other transient problems introduced to power systems by series capacitance and the like, and is easily incorporated into existing protective relays. In the method, a number (n) of current and voltage samples (Ik, Vk) representative of values of current and voltage waveforms are measured, respectively, at successive instants of time on a conductor in a power system. The number n is an integer greater than I and the index k takes on values of 1 to n. Resistance (R) and inductance (L) values are computed in accordance with an equation in which R and L are related to sums of differences in values of successive current and voltage samples. A prescribed power system function is then performed based on the computed R and L values.

    摘要: Techniques for using an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system for Utility Automation (UA) purposes in a utility distribution system are disclosed herein. In an AMI system, a metering node often includes a communications option board for connecting to a wide area network (WAN), which can be shared between the AMI system and a UA system. The metering node may be near other devices that can be controlled by a utility company to monitor and control components of the utility distribution system. A data packet is received in a communication device. The communication device determines whether the received data packet is formatted according to a first protocol employed by the AMI system. If so, then the data packet is forwarded to a first device in communication with the AMI system. If not, then the data packet is forwarded to a second device in communication with the UA system.
