    摘要: Techniques for using an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system for Utility Automation (UA) purposes in a utility distribution system are disclosed herein. In an AMI system, a metering node often includes a communications option board for connecting to a wide area network (WAN), which can be shared between the AMI system and a UA system. The metering node may be near other devices that can be controlled by a utility company to monitor and control components of the utility distribution system. A data packet is received in a communication device. The communication device determines whether the received data packet is formatted according to a first protocol employed by the AMI system. If so, then the data packet is forwarded to a first device in communication with the AMI system. If not, then the data packet is forwarded to a second device in communication with the UA system.

    摘要: A recloser trips on one phase for single-phase only fault conditions, or all phases for multi-phase fault conditions. During power delivery, the recloser monitors the three phases of a power line (e.g., phases A, B, and C). If a fault is detected on one phase, then a timer is started and subsequently decremented. If the timer finishes counting down while the fault is still present, then it is determined if any of the other two phases are timing a fault. If so, then all three phases are tripped; otherwise, only the faulted phase is tripped.

    摘要: A three phase trip of a power line is prevented in a power distribution network delivering electrical power through multiple current carrying conductors and a neutral/ground line. The three phase trip is prevented after a change in the current in the neutral/ground line caused by a partial trip of a recloser. A partial trip is detected in the power distribution network, and then a threshold current is automatically adjusted from a first level to a second level for the neutral/ground line.

    摘要: A voltage regulator controller of the types used with a multi-tap voltage regulator transformer having a plurality of tap positions for adjusting an output voltage in discrete tap position steps is provided with a number of control algorithms which are dynamically changed responsive to the measured oil temperature in the transformer. In one embodiment, the voltage regulator controller includes a memory having tap movement control code stored therein for controlling the tap positions in accordance with a plurality of tap position control algorithms, means for measuring the oil temperature of the voltage regulator transformer, means for monitoring the oil temperature within the transformer and, means for selecting one of the tap position control algorithms as being active as a function of the oil temperature.
