    摘要: Database synchronization processing is completed within a reasonable time, using narrow-band network that connects a primary site to a secondary site, to reduce the running cost of a system. A primary DBMS has a transaction executing unit for reading a primary DB of a primary storage system to update data as requested in an update request, and a write unit for writing the updated data in the primary storage system. The primary storage system includes an unnecessary information removing unit for overwriting an unused area in the written data successively with one of a preset character and a preset value. The primary storage system is connected, via a network, to a second storage system which stores a copy of the primary DB. The primary storage system is connected to the network via a network device which has a data compression unit for compressing a succession of the same value.

    摘要: A database recovery method including a computer and a storage system, in which: the storage system includes a disk drive for storing data; the disk drive includes a data volume, a snapshot volume, a database log for storing an update log, and an update journal for storing update information of the data volume; a recovery point for indicating an end point of a range to which the update journal is to be applied and a starting point of a range to which the database log is to be applied is recorded to recover the data volume; and when the database is to be recovered, the update journal is applied to the snapshot volume up to the recovery point, the snapshot volume after the update is switched to the data volume, and the database log after the recovery point is applied to the data volume that is set by switching.

A primary DBMS (101) has a transaction executing unit (104) for reading a primary DB (119) of a primary storage system (110) to update data as requested in an update request, and a write unit (106) for writing the updated data in the primary storage system (110). The primary storage system (110) includes an unnecessary information removing unit (1400) for overwriting an unused area in the written data successively with one of a preset character and a preset value. The primary storage system (110) is connected, via a network (320), to a second storage system (120) which stores a copy of the primary DB (119). The primary storage system (110) is connected to the network (320) via a network device (140) which has a data compression unit for compressing a succession of the same value.

    摘要: The data processing system controls, from the database management system on a host computer, the storage device subsystem which stores log data supplied from the database management system; allocates on a disk cache in the storage device subsystem in advance a log-dedicated buffer area of a size equal to that of the log data output between checkpoints; writes log data into the buffer area; and, in the event of a host computer failure, reads out the log data from the disk cache without making access to a disk device. Since the log information required for the recovery of the data processing device is cached on the storage device side, the time it takes to read the necessary log information can be shortened, which in turn reduces the system recovery time.

    摘要: A database system for storing table data as divided in a plurality of storages has a processing request acceptance section and an execution section which, at the time of rebalancing already stored data in response to addition of a storage, can execute inquiry operations concurrently. The system determines data to be moved from existing storages to the additional storage. When search, update and delete processing requests are issued during execution of the rebalance operation of copying the data to the additional storage and deleting the original data, both the DBMS acceptance section and DBMS executor section execute the operation corresponding to the requests. When an insert processing request is issued, the system determines a data insert destination on the basis of contents of a step of dividing the data from the existing storages to the additional storage.

    摘要: It is an object of the present invention to use the resources of various sites in an effective manner. The first site has a first DB access part in use. The second site has a second DB access part in use in addition to a first DB access part for standby corresponding to the first DB access part in use. The second DB access part in use writes data into a second storage device that is assigned to the second DB access part itself. The inter-site monitoring server monitors the first DB access part in use and the second DB access part, and in cases where it is detected that the first DB access part in use has gone down, the inter-site monitoring server switches the first DB access part for standby to the DB access part in use.
