The apparatus and method comprise receiving packet data information including a target packet error rate (PER) from the access point over a forward link channel and decoding the received packet data information; adjusting target PERs for respective data rate control (DRC) values according to the decoded packet data information; selecting one of the adjusted target PERs according to the decoded packet data information, and determining the selected target PER as a target PER for a DRC value to be transmitted; estimating a carrier-to-interference ratio (C/I) for the received packet data information; and determining a DRC value satisfying the determined target PER using the estimated C/I.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for accurately measuring the thermal noise power of a silence period and increasing the control efficiency of reverse link load in a mobile communication system. In the received power measuring apparatus, a UPMB measures the received power of the reverse link, accumulates the measured received power, and outputs the accumulated received power as a received power value. A remover compensates the received power value using a time constant if the received power value is for a silence period. A controller provides a silence period signal to the remover when the silence period starts.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for receiving data in a mobile station for a mobile communication system using multi-user packet data are provided, in which a preamble power measurer measures preamble power of the multi-user packet data received from a base station and transmits the result value to a controller. The controller compares the measured power with a predetermined threshold, simultaneously decodes the multi-user packet data according to all transport formats if the measured power is lower than the threshold, and decodes the multi-user packet data according to a predetermined transport format if the measured power is higher than or equal to the threshold. A plurality of decoders decode the received multi-user packet data according to a control signal from the controller, wherein the number of the decoders depends upon the total number of transport formats for the multi-user packet data.
