    摘要: In a radio receiver comprising a battery, a local oscillator, a mixer, a demodulator and a controller, a voltage level of the battery is detected within the rise time of the local oscillator after the power is supplied thereto. The power is intermittently supplied to the local oscillator and other circuits. Before the rise of the local oscillator, the voltage level is selected to check the battery. After the rise of the local oscillator, the demodulated signal is selected to perform usual receiving operation. The rise of the local oscillator is detected by comparing an amplitude of the intermediate frequency signal with a reference value. The voltage level and the demodulated signal are transferred to the controller through a single port.

    摘要: In a radio communication apparatus for selectively receiving call signals indicative of call numbers, respectively, a decoder receives, in cooperation with a P-ROM, each of the call signals as a received signal and processes the received signal into a common call tone signal representative of reception of the received signal regardless of the call numbers. The decoder makes a tone generator generate a common tone in response to the common call tone signal to indicate arrival of reception of one of the call signals. When a manual operable switch is operated, the decoder makes the tone generator stop generation of the common tone and classify the received signal into one of individual tone signals corresponding to the respective call numbers. Subsequently, the decoder makes the tone generator generate a particular tone indicating the call number of the received signal in question. When the switch is again operated, the decoder makes the tone generator stop generation of the particular tone.

    摘要: A radio pager for receiving a paging signal with a half-size microstrip antenna. A pair of electrical conductive elements sandwich a printed circuit board on which elements constituting pager circuitry are mounted. The conductive elements and conductive connecting pins fastening them constitute an electromagnetic shield case for the circuitry elements, reducing the radiation of unnecessary electromagnetic waves to the outside from the circuitry mounted on the printed circuit board, particularly a local oscillation circuit. Since the antenna has an earth plate thereof connected to one of the conductive plates with respect to high frequency, the conductive plate plays the role of an earth plate at the same time. As a result, a microstrip base plate is miniaturized while the space available for parts is increased. A ground conductive portion surrounds the antenna element and conceals screws and other conductive structural parts, whereby the antenna directivity pattern is not susceptible to changes in the dimension and position of the conductive structural parts. The conductor of the antenna element may be formed with slits to further miniaturize the antenna element and, therefore, the entire pager.

The paging receiver has a decoder for outputting a pair of periodically varying drive signals on determining that a call meant for the receiver has been received, a speaker drive for causing a speaker to sound in the pattern of either one of two drive pattern signals, and an LED driver for turning on the LED in the other pattern. The drive periods of the two drive pattern signals are arranged alternately with each other and such that they do not overlap each other, whereby the luminance of the LED is maintained at a sufficiently high level even when a battery powering the paging receiver reaches the last stage of its service life.

    摘要: A battery pack mounting device for portable radio equipment having a built-in antenna. The device determines a position of a battery pack, which powers the equipment, inserted in a battery pack accommodating portion provided in the equipment. Various constants which determine the antenna characteristic of the equipment are controlled on the basis of the determined position of the battery pack, thereby maintaining the optimum antenna characteristic at all times. When the device is applied to a charging unit which charges a rechargeable battery, the opposite electrodes of the battery are electrically correctly connected to a pair of connecting terminals which are provided in the charging unit and connected to opposite poles of a charging circuit as the battery pack is inserted in a battery chamber defined in the charging unit. Even when the battery pack is placed in the battery chamber upside down, the opposite electrodes of the battery are accurately connected to the connecting terminals of the charging unit.
