摘要： The image fixing device includes a fixing roller pair by which a recording medium having an image formed thereon is nipped and conveyed to fix the image, and a gripping/conveying unit which includes a gripping portion for gripping a leading edge of the recording medium and which conveys the recording medium between two fixing rollers while gripping the leading edge of the recording medium. In this device, at least one of the two fixing rollers of the fixing roller pair has a recess receiving the gripping portion, and is set such that when the leading edge of the recording medium gripped by the gripping portion is nipped between the two fixing rollers, the gripping portion is received by the recess. Alternatively, the device includes a roller moving unit for moving at least one of the two fixing rollers. The roller moving unit brings the two rollers of the fixing roller pair out of contact with each other before the gripping portion gripping the leading edge of the recording medium passes between the fixing rollers, and brings the fixing rollers into contact with each other after the gripping portion has passed between the fixing rollers.

摘要： There are provided a fixing device which includes a first transport path for transporting a recording medium with an image formed thereon and a fixing roll pair having at least one heating roll; and an image forming apparatus including the fixing device. The recording medium transported from the first transport path is nipped and transported to fix the image. The fixing roll pair is placed so that a rotation axis thereof is parallel to a transport surface of the first transport path and tilts with respect to a transport direction of the recording medium in the first transport path. Localized wear of a fixing roll surface caused by edges of a recording medium can be suppressed without limiting the kind of the recording medium used.

摘要： A printing machine such as a rotary offset press includes a printed material monitoring apparatus comprising sensor units for detecting light reflected from a number of unit pixel domains which are divided in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which a print surface of a printed material flows, optical fiber units for transmitting light reflected from the unit pixel domains to the sensor units and a signal processing unit for processing signals transmitted from the sensor units. The sensor units comprise detection sensors each being equipped with a plurality of light reception elements corresponding to the unit pixel domains respectively. The light reception elements are arranged in a plurality of rows of a fixed amount in a direction in which the print surface of the printed material flows to form groups of fixed amount of rows in which the light reception elements are arranged. The signal processing unit comprises analog multiplexer for multiplexing analog information detected by each of the light reception elements in the groups in which the rows of the light reception elements are arranged and digital multiplexer for further digitizing and multiplexing the multiplexed analog information transmitted from each of the groups of the light reception elements.
