摘要: During the heating of scrap in a container using sulfur-containing fuels for combustion, CaO, Ca(CO).sub.2, or CaCO.sub.3 powder is injected into the container to fix sulfur oxides generated during the combustion mainly as CaSO.sub.4. There is no need for special exhaust gas desulfurization, and, at the same time, slag formation is possible.

摘要: A melting apparatus having a compact structure, of economical equipment cost, enabling to vacuum melting and refining at high productivity. A metal melting apparatus has a structure in which a refractory furnace wall 12 is furnished on an outer circumference thereof with a seal jacket 16 of air tight and non-electrical conductivity, and disposed with vertical water cooling copper pipes 47 along the inner circumference of the seal jacket 16 at predetermined space, and the furnace casing 10 is arranged at the outer part to encircle the furnace casing with an induction heating coil 38, and the furnace casing 10 is secured to a frame 42 by means of the seal jacket 16 for reinforcing the structure. The seal jacket 16 of the furnace casing 10 is fixed to the frame via an upper flange 44 and a lower flange 28.

摘要: A reactor for iron making having an upper gas blowing nozzle, a lower gas blowing nozzle, and an iron scrap charging inlet. A vertical shaft is installed directly above the inlet at the top part of the reactor. A mechanism is provided in the lower end of the vertical shaft for controlling charging of the iron scrap to the reactor. A by-pass tube is connected between the top part of the reactor and a gas inlet in the vertical shaft directly above the mechanism for controlling the charging of iron scrap and permits exit of high temperature exhaust gases from the reactor and introduces the exhaust gases to flow through the iron scrap in the vertical shaft to pre-heat the same. Structure is provided in the by-pass tube for introducing oxygen gas or air into the high temperature exhaust gases to react therewith and generate further heat. The structure can comprise a nozzle. The mechanism for controlling charging of iron scrap can include a damper positioned immediately above the inlet in the top part of the reactor which is movable to open and close the vertical shaft together with a stopper positioned above the damper and movable to open and close the vertical shaft. Certain amounts of iron scrap can thereby be charged to the reactor by sequential openings and closings of the damper and the stopper.

摘要: A method of melting iron scrap using an arc furnace with reduced electric power consumption.In one of a pair of vessels which are arc furnace bodies, melting of the scrap by heat of arc is carried out while a carbonaceous material and oxygen-containing gas are introduced therein to cause oxidation of C to CO to make use of the oxidation heat. Thus formed hot exhaust gas containing CO is introduced to the other vessel of the pair and oxygen-containing gas is added thereto to cause oxidation of CO to CO.sub.2 thereby heating the scrap loaded in the vessel. Melting is further continued by changing the roles of the two vessels to each other.Generation of the CO-containing hot gas can be performed in a separately installed gasification furnace.
