    Abstract: An attenuator valve is provided by utilizing a closure member having a fluid passage therethrough and an attenuator device disposed in the passage of the closure member which protrudes therefrom and which provides a variable degree of attenuation dependent upon the degree to which the valve is opened. The degree of attenuation is proportional to the degree to which the valve is opened. The closure member in combination with the attenuator device provides an optimal attenuation in the full range of valve settings with decreasing attenuation as the valve is opened, and so that at full open position the attenuator device does not significantly restrict the flow of fluid.

    Abstract: A drag ball valve (10) that can variable regulate the pressure drop to which the fluid passing therethrough is subjected while maintaining the fluid velocity nearly constant is disclosed. To accomplish this, a series of fixed disks (34) having apertures (36) therein and rotatable disks (42) having apertures (44) with flange-like projections (46) therein are aligned so that either an unobstructed straight fluid passage through the apertures in both types of disks is created or the fluid is diverted by the flange-like projections (46) causing pressure reductions due to a variable number of flow direction turns. By varying the number of fixed disks (34) and rotatable disks (42) used, and by varying the number of rotatable disks (42) that are so aligned, any number of flow direction turns and associated pressure drops from zero pressure drops to the total number of rotatable disks (42) used can be achieved.

    Abstract: A rotary valve for fluid flowing in a pipe. The valve has a body provided with upstream and downstream segments located on either side of a central recess constituting a seat into which a rotary sealing element, including a through-channel, is inserted. A decompression insert is arranged in the upstream segment and provided with a first cylindrical section having an outer cross-section equal to the cross-section of the upstream segment, a second cylindrical section having a cross-section that is narrower than the first cylindrical section, and a third section, referred to as frusta-conical connection section, for connecting the first and second sections. The decompression insert has a plurality of radial openings provided in at least one of the walls of the second and/or the third sections in order to diffuse the fluid toward the through-channel of the sealing element during a partial opening phase of the rotary valve.

    Abstract: A valve assembly comprising a rotary closure element which defines an axis of rotation and is selectively movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position. Mounted to and movable with the rotary closure element is an impedance assembly. The impedance assembly defines an inflow end and an outflow end, and comprises a plurality of tortuous passageways which extend from the inflow end to the outflow end. Also fully or partially defined by the impedance assembly is an enlarged flow opening which extends from the inflow end to the outflow end. The tortuous passageways and the flow opening are oriented relative to each other such that a portion of a flow through the valve assembly is directed into the tortuous passageways and a portion of the flow is directed through the flow opening when the closure element is in the fully open position.

    Abstract: The flow regulating valve (10) of the ball or plug type comprises a ball (13) which rotates about a rotation axis (14) and comprises a shut-off area (15) and a regulation area (16). The regulation area (16) comprises a series of channels (160) arranged in planes substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis (14) and which are provided with an expansion area (161). At the initial opening of the valve, the surface of the channels (160) in contact with the inlet line (17) is reduced. Frictions are created in the channel (160) and in the expansion area (161) thereby providing for an important load loss. At the end of the opening, the surface of the channels in contact with the inlet line is important. The fluid circulated in planar sheets, without swirls and with a low load loss. Applications: Pressure fluid supply circuit, high differential pressure circuit, decompression circuits, pressure equilibrating circuits.
