Abstract: A modem is described having a transceiver assembly, a non-transitory processor readable medium coupled to the transceiver assembly, transceiver electronics coupled to the transceiver and the non-transitory processor readable medium, and a power supply supplying power to the transceiver assembly and the transceiver electronics. The transceiver electronics are configured to calculate a size of an output bit stream based on an encoding scheme to encode for transmission data stored in the non-transitory processor readable medium, decimate the data if the size of the output bit stream exceeds a predetermined size, recalculate the size of the output bit stream, after decimation of the data, based on the encoding scheme to encode for transmission the decimated data, and encode the data using the encoding scheme.

Abstract: A method for improving a quality of data received from a downhole tool in a wellbore includes receiving a first block of data from a downhole tool in a wellbore. The first block of data represents a first measurement captured by the downhole tool during a first period of time. At least a portion of a bit budget for a second block of data is allocated to the first block of data to produce an updated first block of data. The method also includes receiving the second block of data from the downhole tool in the wellbore. Abstract: A system and method to automate data acquisition in a wireless telemetry network optimizes data acquisition to best match a target data set that the user desires given the performance limitations of the telemetry network. The user defines the target data set by providing inputs regarding a target quality of the target data set relative to a data set that has been produced and stored by a communication node in the network. The performance limitations of the network are defined in a system operating envelope. A data acquisition cycle is then automatically initiated and propagated in the network to acquire an actual data set that is an optimal match for the user's target given the system operating envelope.

Abstract: Image feature alignment is provided. In some implementations, a computer-readable tangible medium includes instructions that direct a processor to access a reference feature point associated with a high contrast region in a first sub-image that is associated with a first section of a borehole. Instructions are also present that direct the processor to identify several candidate feature points in a second sub-image associated with a second section of the borehole adjacent to the first section of the borehole, with each of the candidate feature points being believed to possibly be associated with the high contrast region. Additional instructions are present that direct the processor to prune the candidate feature points using global solution pruning to arrive at a matching candidate feature point in the second sub-image.

Abstract: The present disclosure introduces methods and apparatus for acquiring a borehole image corresponding to a sidewall surface of a borehole that penetrates a subterranean formation, wherein the subterranean formation comprises structural elements and a varying geophysical characteristic. The borehole image comprises structure corresponding to the structural elements, texture corresponding to the varying geophysical characteristic, and coverage gaps (605) in which the structure and texture are missing. Trends corresponding to the structure are extracted from the borehole image. Missing structure within the gaps (605) is reconstructed based on the extracted trends. Missing texture within the gaps is simulated based on the borehole image and the reconstructed structure. A fullbore image is constructed based on the borehole image, the reconstructed structure within the gaps, and the simulated texture within the gaps.
