Abstract: A method of changing a light transmittance of a head-mounted display device and the head-mounted device. The method of changing a light transmittance of a head-mounted display device includes detecting an illuminance; determining an application displayed on a display unit of the head-mounted display device; determining a first light transmittance corresponding to the illuminance and the application; and changing a second light transmittance of a light transmission unit of the head-mounted display device to the determined first light transmittance.
