Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention include a toner cartridge for the printing of MICR characters that includes a memory device that is programmed with the requisite font for MICR characters. The font is accessible for the printing of MICR characters when the toner cartridge is installed in a printer. In a further embodiment, the memory device on the toner cartridge may also contain a data flag indicating that a print job must print at least one symbol in the MICR font. Corresponding printer firmware may then determine if this flag is present, and, if present, will prevent the printing of print jobs that do not include at least one character to be printed in the MICR font. This prevents MICR toner from being wasted on documents that do not require MICR toner, such as normal office correspondence.
Abstract:
A method for authorizing device interaction includes requesting, from a connected device, authorization data from a remote service. At the connected device, authorization data is received and then passed with an authorization prompt to a user interface device. From the connected device, a user interface device response to the prompt is passed to the remote service. At the connected device, authorization setting data is received and stored. The authorization setting data has a value determined according to the user interface device response and is useable by the connected device to determine authorization for subsequent connected device interaction with the remote service.
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods facilitate collection of print job status information. A first method configures a computer to obtain status information for subsequent print jobs to a printer. The first method supplies a proxy printer driver in place of an actual printer driver associated with the printer. The first method may hook a function in the actual printer driver. The first method may also configure the computer to spool RAW datatype to the printer. The first method may also store a unique identifier of the computer in the registry. The first method may also set a flag within the registry so as to indicate that the computer is able to provide status for print jobs on the printer. A second method gathers print status for a print job from a computer to a printer. The second method executes a proxy printer driver while producing the print job, wherein the proxy printer driver is a proxy for an actual printer driver. The second method inserts into the print job a unique identifier of the print job. The second method also queries at least one of a spooler and the printer regarding status of the print job. Optionally, the second method may detect inception of the print job and produce a notification of the status of the print job. In executing the proxy printer driver, the second method preferably receives a call to a function and calls a corresponding function in the actual printer driver. In some embodiments, the proxy printer driver produces RAW data. The apparatus is a computer readable medium on which is embedded a computer program. The program comprises a proxy printer driver translation part, the proxy printer driver translation part being a proxy for an actual printer driver translation part. Optionally, the program comprises one or more of a status configuration utility, a status monitor, a spooler comprising a port monitor, a graphic device interface, a registry, the actual printer driver translation part and an application.
Abstract:
Supply state information associated with a peripheral device that is shared over a network while coupled to a local network resource is obtained and a representation of the supply state information is stored in a data repository that is accessible by remote network resources.
Abstract:
A selection method for determining an appropriate destination includes upon receiving at a browser a request for a service, a browser extension in the browser of an imaging client automatically accessing a user profile in an autonomous network service unrelated to the requested service. The imaging extension gets a criterion for selection of a destination method for providing a destination. One of a plurality of destination methods is automatically selected based on the criterion. At least one direct or indirect reference to the selected destination is obtained, and the browser is redirected to the selected destination using the reference.
Abstract:
Memory integrated into a removable cartridge for an image forming device is programmed with image enhancement data. The image enhancement data includes a condition associated with data identifying an image enhancement technique and a parameter for implementing the image enhancement technique.
Abstract:
Example systems, methods, computer-readable mediums, and other forms of a secure foreign enterprise printing system are provided. An example system may include a wireless telephonic logic for communicating with a wireless network web services provider and a wireless network communication logic configured to communicate a print request to the wireless network web services provider using the wireless telephonic logic. The print item may be stored in a first enterprise and may be printed on an image forming device that is located in a second enterprise. The example system may also include an encryption logic configured to facilitate providing security for the print item as it travels from the first enterprise to the image forming device.
Abstract:
A printing device can transmit authentication data to a client computer remotely connected to the printing device. The authentication data can be used by the client computer to authenticate itself to a server computer.
Abstract:
An image-printing device includes a connection bay that accepts an insertable consumable resource. The consumable resource includes an option key that identifies at least one mode of operation associated with the consumable resource. The connection bay outputs at least one signal associated with the mode of operation when the consumable resource is inserted. A controller receives the signal associated with the mode of operation and in response outputs display information suitable for use by a display to indicate a selectable availability of the at least one mode of operation.
Abstract:
A computer-readable medium has a program available thereon for causing a suitably programmed information-handling system to detect the presence of a print job, and post the print job at a selected rendezvous point.
