    摘要: An ink jet cartridge is composed integrally of a recording head and an ink tank, which are constructed in mutually separable manner, in order to enable repeated use of the recording head by replacement of the ink tank. In an ink supply part in the ink tank, an elastic partition wall is provided with a slit which is normally closed but is opened under a predetermined pressure difference. The slit is so designed as to generate an appropriate negative pressure on the recording head, thereby preventing ink leakage. Also a slit shielding valve member is provided to shield the slit at the abrupt inhaling action of the ink tank at the detaching of the ink tank, in order to prevent air intrusion into the ink tank.

    摘要: A process for producing an ink jet head comprising a liquid-discharge energy generating element for discharging a liquid, a discharge opening, a liquid-flow path, and a substrate for holding the liquid-discharge energy generating element, the process comprises the steps of: preparing the substrate; providing on the substrate the liquid-discharge energy generating element; providing a solid layer with a convex shape on the surface of the substrate where the liquid-discharge energy generating element has been provided and at the part where the liquid-flow path and the discharge opening are to be provided, the solid layer being formed of a resin capable of being dissolved away; applying on the substrate provided with the solid layer a curable material in a thickness larger than the thickness of the solid layer, to cover the solid layer; curing the curable material; evenly removing the cured material until the convex portion of the solid layer is laid bare; and dissolving away the solid layer to form the liquid-flow path and the discharge opening.

    摘要: An ink storage unit used in an ink jet recording apparatus for recording by ejecting ink comprises a plurality of ink storage chambers, a plurality of movable walls and a mechanism for holding each of the movable walls. Each of the ink storage chambers stores ink. Each of the movable walls is provided in the each ink storage chamber respectively so as to seal stored ink against air, and each movable wall can move according to a change of amount of ink in each ink storage chamber. The mechanism for holding the movable walls exerts a force opposed to a force which is exerted on the each movable wall according to the change of amount of ink, on each of the movable walls so as to make the pressure in each ink storage chamber an appropriate negative pressure.
