摘要: This disclosure relates to apparatus for cleaning swimming pools, incorporating intermittent pop-up jet nozzles, the nozzles being adapted to intermittently rotate and project cleaning jets of water adjacent the inner surface of the pools. Wear and tear on the nozzle housing and related parts is minimized by use of a water delivery assembly in which the stop means for arresting upward movement of the nozzle are located in the lower part of the housing, thus eliminating bending moment of stress force against the housing and related parts. The inclusion of a retainer or cage within the housing provides other improvements in the operation of the water delivery assembly.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for swimming pool cleaning incorporating intermittent pop-up jet rotated nozzles; the nozzles being adapted to intermittently rotate and project cleaning jets of water adjacent said inner surface. The nozzles each have eccentrically positioned tangential water outlets forming jet outlet passages; the nozzles are vertically reciprocal and are rotatably mounted in housings having stop means such that when they are hydraulically energized by water under pressure in the housings, the nozzles emerge from the upper ends of the housings and cause jet reaction rotation thereof during upward movement which is arrested by the stop means in the housing. The housing includes a bore with clearance around the nozzle so as to provide a water bearing around the nozzle during its upward and rotative movement. A plurality of such nozzles are disposed in a swimming pool and the nozzles are successively and sequentially hydraulically energized by water under pressure from a sequencing valve which receives water from a water pump which in turn receives water from the pool.

Cleaning head structure may comprise a slidably rotatable reverser between upper and lower portions of a cam assembly, the slidably rotatable reverser adjustable between first and second positions such that an incrementally rotating stem slidably mounted to the cam assembly incrementally rotates clockwise when the reverser is in its first position and counter clockwise when the reverser is in its second position.

摘要: A hydraulic suction fuse is mounted in a conventional debris collection trap of a swimming pool, spa or the like, to significantly reduce or eliminate any suction force on the bottom or side wall mounted drain of the swimming pool, spa or the like, as a result of the drain becoming essentially wholly covered by a body part of a person or other drain clogging article. Alternatively, the hydraulic suction fuse may be mounted in a compartment in line between the drain and a suction pump of a swimming pool, spa or the like. Thereby, a person captured by the suction force at the drain will be released and the person is free to move away from the drain essentially instantaneously upon contact with the drain. The hydraulic suction fuse is self resetting once inflow through the drain is no longer restricted.

摘要: A swimming pool debris collection trap for separating debris from water passing through a pool water recirculating system.The collection trap is located at poolside below pool deck level and comprises a tank having upper and lower seats dividing the tank into upper, lower and intermediate chambers.The intermediate chamber between the seats is connected to the pool by a trap suction line. Water from the suction line flows into the open upper end of a foraminous container resting upon the lower seat and extending into the lower chamber. The container traps debris but allows water to flow into the lower chamber for return to the pool through a trap discharge line.The container is removable through a cap opening provided in the intermediate chamber and normally closed by a sealing cap.A balance passage connects the pool to the upper chamber for filling it with water to a level above the upper seat. The presence of this water stops any air from entering the intermediate chamber and preventing development of pump suction in the lower chamber.The collection trap is of relatively high capacity to receive large quantities of leaves and other debris in water pumped from the pool by various means. It acts also as a skimmer basket and a pump basket.One embodiment of the sealing cap automatically prevents development of an excessive vacuum in the recirculation system, and another embodiment can regulate water flow into the intermediate chamber.

摘要: Apparatus for intermittently directing one or more streams of water across the inner surface of a swimming pool structure for cleaning the surface. A cylindrical retractable nozzle head actuated by fluid pressure moves to an active, extended position to expose nozzle passages therein when water under pressure is applied thereto. The nozzle passages are formed in diametrically and symmetrically disposed thickened wall regions of the nozzle head to provide a nozzle head that is balanced about its longitudinal axis. In certain embodiments of the invention, a pair of nozzle passages are formed in the thickened regions and some or all of the passages have destructible membranes blocking communication with the interior of the nozzle head, which membranes may be selectively drilled out at the time of installation of the apparatus. The nozzle head, which is preferably molded from plastic material, may contain a weight member for additional balance and to assist in retraction of the head to its inactive position.
