    摘要: Waterproof performance of a grommet is stabilized, the grommet being inserted and engaged with a through-hole having a burring in a body panel. A grommet for a wire harness is externally fitted to the wire harness routed in a vehicle and is mounted to a through-hole from which a burring of a body panel projects. The grommet includes a one-piece molded component of one of rubber and elastomer and an annular body engagement recess in an outer peripheral surface of a tubular portion through which the wire harness is inserted. A size between two side surfaces that define a bottom surface of the body engagement portion is set to be less than a projection size of the burring projecting from a periphery of the through-hole. A projecting front end surface of the burring is wedged in and pressed into contact with one of the side surfaces to serve as a seal point.

    摘要: To provide a grommet that can be smoothly inserted into a through-hole in a vehicle body panel so that a vehicle body latch recess provided in the grommet can receive a peripheral edge around the through-hole without catching the recess by the through-hole. The grommet includes: an inner tube for passing electrical cables in the wire harness in a close contact manner; and an outer tube coupled through an annular coupling section to an outer peripheral surface of the inner tube and provided with a slant wall section. The outer tube is provided on a larger diameter end of the slant wall section with a larger thickness portion in parallel to an axial direction. An annular vehicle body latch recess is provided in an outer peripheral surface at a boundary area between the larger diameter end of the slant wall section and the larger thickness portion. The slant wall section is provided on an outer peripheral surface with a plurality of stepped projecting ribs that extend radially from a smaller diameter end of the slant wall section to the larger diameter end and are separated apart from one another in a peripheral direction. A distal end of each of the projecting ribs is disposed at a side surface end of the vehicle body latch recess. Each of the projecting ribs is provided on a stepped top surface with a first slant surface that is inclined down to the side surface end of the vehicle body latch recess, and is provided on both side surfaces with a second slant surface and a third slant surface that are inclined down from the top surface across the first slant surface. The first, second, and third slant surfaces form a three-side-cut-away portion.

    摘要: A grommet includes a small diameter tubular section and a large diameter tubular section contiguous with the small diameter tubular section. Both of the sections are attached to a wire harness for a motor vehicle by threading the wire harness through both of the sections. The small diameter tubular section is inserted into a through-hole in a vehicle body panel. The large diameter tubular section is provided on an outer peripheral surface with a vehicle body engagement annular recess. The recess is adapted to be engaged with the vehicle body panel. The large diameter tubular section is provided on the outer peripheral surface with a plurality of projecting portions that extend from a connecting part between both of the sections to a side wall of the vehicle body engagement annular recess in an axial direction of the large diameter tubular section and are separated apart from one another in a peripheral direction of the large diameter tubular section. Each of the projecting portions includes a contact point that initially contacts with an inner peripheral surface around the through-hole upon inserting the grommet into the hole, a bending point above the contact point, a distal end point at a side of the vehicle body engagement annular recess, and a proximal end point at the connecting part. Each of the projecting portions includes an increasing diameter directing slant portion that extends from the proximal end point through the contact point to the bending point in parallel to the outer peripheral surface of the large diameter tubular section, and a reducing diameter directing slant portion that extends from the bending point to the distal end point and inclines in a reversed slant direction.

A slant wall section of the outer tube has a curved portion at a position having an outer diameter equal to an inner diameter of a through-hole in a vehicle body panel. The curved portion has a different inclination angle from the slant wall section. An inclination angle of the slant wall section at a larger diameter side with respect to the curved portion is set to be smaller than an inclination angle at a smaller diameter side with respect to the curved portion. The slant wall section is provided on an inner peripheral surface at the smaller diameter side with a bending stress absorbing portion of which an inner surface is recessed annularly to be a smaller thickness.

    摘要: To provide a grommet of which a vehicle body latch recess is not deformed, thereby maintaining a good sealing function, even if a wire harness that passes the grommet is bent sharply. The grommet includes: an inner tube for passing electrical cables in the wire harness in a close contact manner; an annular coupling section protruding from an outer peripheral surface of the inner tube; and an outer tube contiguous with an outer peripheral surface of the annular coupling section and disposed coaxially with the inner tube. The outer tube is adapted to couple the annular coupling section to a larger thickness portion of the outer tube and to couple a reducing diameter slant wall section to the larger thickness portion. The outer tube is provided on an outer peripheral surface at a boundary area between the larger thickness portion and the slant wall section with a vehicle body latch recess in an annular manner. The annular coupling section is formed into a smaller thickness. The annular coupling section is bent in a V-shaped configuration from an inner peripheral end coupled to the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube to an outer peripheral end coupled to an inner peripheral surface of the outer tube.
