摘要: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing network access services to mobile users via multi-user network access terminals over a multi-beam satellite system. Quality-of-service (QoS) is controlled for the mobile devices at a per-user level according to user-specific traffic policies Mobile users may be provisioned on the satellite system according to a set of traffic policies based on their service level agreement (SLA). System resources of the satellite may be allocated to mobile users based on the demand of each mobile user and the set of traffic polices associated with each mobile user, regardless of which multi-user network access terminal is used to access the system. Dynamic multiplexing of traffic from fixed terminals and mobile users on the same satellite beam can take advantage of statistical multiplexing of large numbers of users and on different usage patterns between fixed terminals and mobile users.

摘要: The described features generally relate to receiving one or more positioning signals at a satellite terminal during installation of the satellite terminal at a customer premises, and providing position-based access to a satellite communications system based on a satellite terminal installation position determined from the received positioning signals. The determined installation position of the satellite terminal may then be employed for various network access techniques, such as providing access to the satellite communications system, providing position-based content, or restricting content via the satellite communications system based on the determined installation position. In some examples the determined installation position of the satellite terminal may be used to approximate a propagation delay between the satellite terminal and various devices of the satellite communications system, such as a serving satellite and/or a serving gateway, to improve device synchronization and radio frequency spectrum resource utilization.

摘要: Systems and methods for aligning a satellite antenna mounted on a mobile platform to the platform are disclosed. At each of several arbitrary orientations, a first directional vector is determined from the antenna to a satellite. For each orientation, an alias transformation is performed to transform the first vector having coordinates defined with respect to a first reference frame to a second vector having coordinates defined with respect to a second reference frame. A third vector is determined based on the orientation of the antenna after peaking the antenna. A rotation matrix is derived from the collection of second and third vectors. An estimate of the rotational offset of the satellite antenna with respect to the platform is determined based on the rotation matrix. The rotational offset is applied to the attitude of the platform to accurately point the antenna to the satellite.
