    Abstract: Pneumatic simulator for an open bolt firearm including an actuator group having a stationary piston and a moving bolt. With each simulated firing cycle producing a firing event, the spring actuates moving bolt toward stationary piston such that the activator unseats a valve located in the stationary piston. Unseating the valve allows regulated compressed gas to exit a high pressure reservoir located in the firearm magazine well which drives the moving bolt back against the spring to complete a firing cycle. Subsequent firing cycles will continue automatically as long as the shooter keeps the trigger depressed. A tension rod, and laser also may comprise the simulator assembly. A nut may be used to secure the tension rod and laser. A laser cable may be used to electrically connect laser to a firing event signal generator. The firing event signal generator may include a magnet located in the moving bolt and a pickup positioned in the stationary piston. With each firing event, the magnet is moved adjacent the pickup which evidences a firing event which generates a signal from the pickup to the laser over the laser cable. The laser then generates a pulse of light which strikes a target to mark a point of impact resulting from the firing event.

The apparatus for filling and refilling a fluid reservoir of a magazine for a pneumatic firearm simulator from a source of pressurized fluid of the present disclosure includes: a receiver for receiving the magazine; a passage for conveying the pressurized fluid from the source of pressurized fluid to the fluid reservoir of the magazine received in the receiver; and, a vent valve in fluid communication with the passage for venting the pressurized fluid from the passage. The apparatus may further include a vent channel in fluid communication with the vent valve. The apparatus may also include a valve in fluid communication with the passage which is adapted for permitting pressurized fluid to be conveyed through the passage; and alternately, prevent pressurized fluid from being conveyed through the passage.

    Abstract: An apparatus for non-permanent conversion of a semiautomatic pistol into a compressed gas powered weapon simulator. The apparatus replaces the pistol's barrel, recoil spring and magazine with no modification of the pistol, which allows retaining the operational functions of the pistol's remaining components. Compressed gas, from the simulation magazine unit, is used in the compressed gas valve means, in the barrel unit, to operate the slide mechanism, to compress the simulation recoil spring, and to emit a laser pulse beam on a target when activated by the firing mechanism; and battery power, from the simulation magazine unit, is used to count the number of shots, lock the slide after a predetermined number of shots and transmit information from the weapon simulator to a remote data system. The compressed simulation recoil spring returns the slide mechanism back to its original position, unless locked open by the apparatus.
