摘要： A gasket includes an intermediate layer having resilient sealing beads flanked by stopper beads. The three-layer gasket, particularly designed for heavy duty racing engines, provides a relatively robust cross-section in web-areas between cylinder bore apertures. A thin bottom layer includes wrap-around flanged portions extending about cylinder bore edges of the intermediate layer to partially overlap cylinder bore aperture areas of that layer. The flanged portions may include a plurality of waves to increase forces to generate the seal. A thin top layer overlies the intermediate layer, as well as the overlapping portions of the bottom layer. In one described embodiment, the overlapping portions are limited to cylinder bore edges between cylinder bores. As a between-engine-overhaul indication of engine health, the top gasket layer is adapted via plastic deformation to form a permanent indentation in an aluminum cylinder head to signal excessive engine operation.

The heater is incorporated in a container having heating elements, a temperature controller, a cut-out sensor, and a supply of plastic orthopedic splint sheets inside. A control panel outside contains a power-on indicator lamp, a heater-on indicator lamp, and a temperature dial control or a toggle switch having multiple preset temperature settings. An AC power input element is on one side of the container. A supply of plastic splint sheets are contained in a separate inner compartment.

摘要： An automated priming system and method for applying a liquid, such as a primer or treatment liquid, to a substrate provides a surface variation sensitive applicator assembly which applies a constant pressure to the substrate during the liquid application process and, therefore, provides a process which achieves a more uniform application path and coating thickness. The automated system includes a robot and at least one applicator assembly. The applicator assembly includes a base and an applicator tip mounted to the base. The applicator tip is adapted to receive a supply of liquid. The robot holds the base of the applicator and positions the applicator tip on the substrate for applying a liquid onto the substrate. One of the applicator and the robot is adapted to apply a constant pressure to the substrate during the application process. The method provides supporting a substrate, holding a applicator assembly, positioning the applicator assembly on the substrate, directing a liquid on to the substrate through the applicator assembly, and storing the applicator assembly between applications in fixed location. Optionally, in primer applications, the applicator is stored in an environment which prevents premature hardening of the primer in the applicator assembly. For example, the applicator assembly may be preferably stored in docking station, which optionally includes a reservoir for holding a primer solution solvent and a vapor port in communication with the reservoir. The applicator is stored in the vapor port such that the solvent vapors prevent premature hardening of the primer solution in the applicator.

摘要： A multiple layer gasket adapted for sealing between mated surfaces of rigid members, said surfaces containing a plurality of spaced apart apertures; said gasket provided in kit form for use by aftermarket racing engine builders. In one preferred embodiment, the kit comprises a combustion gasket, and includes at least three loose, unriveted combustion gasket layers. All three layers contain combustion apertures but only the outer layers include fluid apertures. A center layer is designed as a fluid flow-metering layer of the gasket, and includes stenciled cutouts for the fluid apertures, the center layer being adapted for alignment with at least a portion of the first or top layer. Specific locations and shapes of apertures in the center layer are to be created in the field (i.e. at racing site). Finally, in one preferred embodiment, the layers may be doweled to be more easily mated together during installation in an engine.

摘要： The system and method for provisioning resources in a network provides real time, parallel evaluation of the best path within the network using neural network principles. Elements of the network having a plurality of paths are assigned relative values according to a network user's requirements. Attributes may include factors such as reliability, cost, speed, distance, expandability, etc., and may be static or dynamic. Selection of a best path from the plurality of paths comprises application of fuzzy logic, using a threshold function to identify a best relative path value by providing an input to the function which is a combination of the attribute values of the elements within each path. The input to the function is the sum of weighted attribute values, where each attribute value is multiplied by a weight which is a relative value determined in accordance with the network user's priorities; the higher the priority, the greater the weight applied to that attribute. Computation of the threshold function is performed for each path and the resulting values are compared to a pre-determined threshold value to determine if the threshold has been crossed. If a single optimal path has not been identified during this step, the weights of the various attributes are adjusted in order of their priority; upward if no paths have crossed the threshold and downward if multiple paths have crossed the threshold. The process is continued with increasingly smaller incremental changes in the weights until a single combination of elements provides a path value which crosses the threshold, indicating the best path for meeting the network user's criteria. The threshold function may be any algorithm which provides a threshold, including sigmoid, linear, exponential and quadratic functions.
