摘要： An elastic gasket is mounted to an annular groove on a seal surface of a cover member and used for sealing between the cover member and a block member closely attached to the seal surface. A transverse width of a cross section in a leading end side portion is smaller than a transverse width of a cross section in a bottom surface side portion continuously extending from a bottom surface side opposing the leading end side of the leading end side portion to a bottom surface side of the gasket. Each of the transverse width of the cross section in the leading end side portion and the bottom surface side portion has one magnitude all along a longitudinal direction thereof. A cross section of a transition region from the bottom surface side portion to the leading end side portion is in a step shape having a level difference.

摘要： A valve stem seal assembly incorporates a cylindrical retainer having an axis and an upper end about which symmetrically and circumferentially arranged, alternating first and second sets of fingers have radially inwardly depending upper ends. The first set of fingers is generally parallel to the axis and the upper ends are generally perpendicular to the axis to engage a first exterior annular groove of an elastomeric seal body. The first set of fingers provides for axial attachment of the seal body to a top of a valve guide. The second set of fingers is generally arcuate and the upper ends extend radially inwardly to engage a second exterior annular groove of the seal body. The second set of fingers eliminates the need for a garter spring used by traditional valve stem seal assemblies by generating a force to urge the sealing lip against a reciprocating valve stem.

In addition to the spring back fire ring, the gasket assembly includes a main gasket body and upper and lower gasket layers. The spring back fire ring has first and second ends. The first end is biased upwardly around the periphery of the combustion openings. The second end is positioned proximate to the main gasket body. In one embodiment, the second end is integral with the main gasket body.

摘要： A cylinder head gasket includes a metal base plate; a combustion chamber opening provided in the base plate; a metal overlay surrounding the opening; and a weld bonding the overlay to the base plate. The weld is composed of a plurality of weld dots lying in a single row and being equidistantly spaced from one another. Each weld dot has a first diameter on a surface of the base plate and a second diameter on a surface of the overlay. The first diameter is smaller than the second diameter, and a distance between center points of adjoining the weld dots is greater than the second diameter of either of the adjoining weld dots.

摘要： A multi-layer steel cylinder head gasket includes a spacer layer between two beaded mirror image outer layers. A wire ring stopper extends about the boundary of a combustion opening in the stopper layer; the ring is radially spaced from the mirror image beaded outer layer extremities. The ring is covered by a flange folded thereover; the flange extends radially outwardly to overlie the boundary edge of the stopper layer at the combustion opening. The stopper ring pre-stresses the gasket interface at the combustion opening upon securement of a cylinder head to an engine block. Because the stopper ring is spaced from the beaded outer layers, the stresses imposed on the wire ring are decoupled from the beaded outer layers, and lower incidences of bead cracking are realized. In addition, the wire ring diameter is greater than the thickness of the stopper layer, reducing unnecessary compression loads on the stopper layer.

摘要： A novel gasket is provided for filling the space between two mating surfaces on components in an automotive transmission. The gasket includes one or more patches of silicone integrated into a portion of the gasket for providing one or more channels through the gasket, having leak proof seals at the ends of the channel. Bolt passage holes are spaced in the gasket to register with corresponding bolt holes in the mating surfaces. A channel aperture passes through the portion of the gasket augmented with the silicone patch, providing a channel between the mating surfaces. The ends of the channel define leak proof seals between the gasket and the mating surfaces for providing a leak proof fluid flow channel between the mating surfaces.

摘要： A monolayer metal gasket is disclosed, which may be kept against deformation around a bolt hole and further made stable in sealing stress around a gas hole between mating surfaces of confronting components. A first extra thickness around the gas hole is provided by turning back a part of a metallic sheet on a major flat of the metallic sheet, with leaving a space open between them to form a folded construction having elasticity. A second extra thickness around a bolt hole is a closely layered construction of nearly rigid body little to be deformed. When the monolayer metal gasket is squeezed between the mating surfaces of the confronting components, a clearance between the mating surfaces may be regulated to a preselected distance by virtue of the second extra thickness that is little to be deformed.

摘要： A seal structure in an engine, including a seal member interposed between a cylinder head having a slanting face portion at least at an intermediate portion of its upper end face to which a valve-operating cam chamber opens, and a head cover coupled to the upper end face of the cylinder head by a bolt to close the valve-operating cam chamber. The head cover has a fit wall portion formed thereon and fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the valve-operating cam chamber, and the seal member is mounted in a seal groove provided in an outer peripheral surface of the fit wall portion to come into close contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder head. Thus, an interference can be provided equally at various portions of the seal member irrespective of the number of bolts used, and the seal member can always exhibit a good seal function.
