Abstract:
To prevent falsification of an attribute of data, a mechanism is provided, which encrypt document/image data while holding the attribute contained in electronic document data as a plain text and make it extremely difficult to decrypt the document/image data if the attribute is falsified. A transmitter receives a public key set including a plurality of public keys from a receiver, encrypts the document/image data using a common key, selects a public key from the public key set based on an attribute of the data, encrypts the common key using the selected public key, and transmits the data including the encrypted document/image data, the encrypted common key, and the attribute to the receiver.

Abstract:
This presents an image processing apparatus and an image processing method which print and output image data subjected to halftone processing with an appropriate density characteristic. The image processing apparatus generates a halftone image from a multi-value image using a threshold value arrangement, and generates a difference image between the generated halftone image and a second halftone image having the density characteristic different from that of the generated halftone image. The image processing apparatus stores the generated halftone image and the generated difference image. The image processing apparatus determines the density characteristic for printing the second halftone image, when determining to carry out printing with the density characteristic different from that of the stored halftone image, generates a halftone image by combining the stored difference image according to the determined density characteristic and the stored halftone image, and outputs the combined halftone image for printing.
Abstract:
A raster image processor (RIP) can process data for one page for each of a plurality of small areas, and handles each individual small area as a display list. Each individual display list holds information required to determine a rendering resolution. The RIP renders a small area including a text object with a high resolution, and a small area which does not include any text object with a low resolution. The RIP renders the respective small areas with the designated resolutions, and temporarily holds the rendering results in a memory for respective small areas. Upon generating a page image, the RIP directly transfers the high-resolution rendering result to a page memory. The RIP transfers the low-resolution rendering result to the page memory with applying an enlarging pixel process to the rendering result.

Abstract:
An image forming apparatus that is capable of accessing a removable storage medium and automatically starting an operation of calibration thereof without waiting for a user to input a job, on an as-needed basis, when a storage medium is mounted therein. A printer engine performs an image forming operation according to data read from the medium, and a controller executes calibration of the printer engine. The controller detects whether or not the medium is inserted, and determines attributes of data stored in the medium. Based on a result of determination, the controller causes the calibration to be selectively started.
