摘要： A lawn mower comprises a power source for rotatably driving an output shaft, a housing having an interior space having a generally spiral-shaped portion, and a cutting blade disposed in the interior space of the housing and connected to the output shaft for rotation therewith to cut grass. The rotating cutting blade coacts with the spiral-shaped portion of the interior space to generate a swirling air flow that causes the cut grass to swirl within the interior space. A grass discharge passage communicates with the interior space of the housing and discharges therethrough grass cut by the cutting blade and swirling within the interior space of the housing. A pivotal shutter is pivoted about a generally vertical axis by manual operation of a control member to open and close the grass discharge passage. The pivotal shutter comprises a pivotal shaft and a unitary shutter member mounted on the pivotal shaft to undergo pivotal movement therewith for opening and closing the grass discharge passage.

摘要： A lawn mower includes a grass discharge passage extending rearward from a housing 11. A grass receptacle is removably mounted to the discharge passage via a receptacle mounted portion. A shutter is provided at a passage opening of the grass discharge passage facing the housing. The shutter is rotatably provided within the housing to adjust the degree of opening of the passage opening. The lawn mower is switched between a bagging mode, a mulching mode and an intermediate mode by the opening control with the shutter.

摘要： A device for the comminution of leaves for the preparation of fine particles for a mulch useful with a leaf comminuting apparatus having an opening for the escape of comminuted materials, comprises a comminuting grid adapted to be disposed over the opening for further comminuting said leaves, said grid comprising a plurality of vertically suspended chain elements in lateral contact with each other. The grid includes a generally rectangular support plate defining a plurality of slots, and the chain elements are mounted on a support plate with their uppermost links extending through the slots. An elongated rod passes through the uppermost links and is adapted at one end thereof to nest within an opening provided in the support plate. The chain elements provide a simple expedient for the fine comminution of leaf matter which is durable in use. The present device is also self-cleaning, as the contiguous chain elements serve to remove accumulated leaf matter from each other during use.

摘要： A shredder attachment converts a rotary power mower into a shredder for chopping or shredding leaves, clippings, twigs, small limbs, and other lawn and garden waste. The attachment includes a material receiving apron, an intake duct, and a plate which tightly engages the bottom of the mower housing to form a shredder chamber. An intake opening extends through the plate for admitting material to be shredded from the intake duct to a region of the chamber in which the rotary blade does not advance in the direction of the intake duct opening. A folding leg may be extended to raise the apron and duct so that the shredder attachment may be fed from an elevated position. In the first and second embodiments, the intake opening is at the rear side of the mower and the duct extends rearwardly of the mower; in a third embodiment, the intake opening is at the rear side of the mower and the duct extends forwardly of the mower from the intake opening. In a fourth embodiment, the mower housing remains horizontal and is elevated on its four wheels, the duct being formed from planar sheet metal segments for ease of fabrication, and the apron being pivotally mounted to the duct. The duct again includes a reentry ramp.
