Abstract:
A filter apparatus (10) has a plurality of filter elements (20) in a filter housing (12) having a filter inlet (50) for a fluid to be filtered and a filter outlet (52) for the filtered fluid. A pressure control device (42) has at least one control plate (58) located inside a connection chamber (14). The control plate laterally passes over individual upper element openings (54) of the filter element to be backwashed (20), in a predefinable sequence, covering the opening to an increasing degree and then exposing the opening again. A discharge opening (46) of the backwash device (44) is, at least in part, fluidically connected to a lower element opening (56) of the filter element (20) to be backwashed, as the pressure control device (42) moves towards the upper element opening (54).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and a process of running the system that allows for the long term filtration of product without loss of filtration capability due to clogging or fouling. The system is a normal flow filtration system having one or more filter cartridges attached to an outlet of a housing in the system. The filter cartridge(s) are contained within a bowl and depend preferably vertically from the outlet. Liquid enters the bowl of the housing and contacts the outer surfaces of the one or more cartridges. Impurities are trapped on or in the surface of the filter and the filtered liquid flows through the filter and through the outlet. One or more parameters such as flow rate, transmembrane pressure drop and/or time are measured and when the desired parameter(s) are met, the filtration ceases. A backflushing occurs back through the filter cartridges so as to remove the trapped impurities on or in the filter surface. This backwashed material is directed to an outlet of the bowl that is connected to a drain. Additionally a port formed in the side of the housing adjacent an outer surface of the cartridge(s) can be used to provide a lateral washing of the filter surfaces. The system is then recirculated in a downstream manner to reestablish equilibrium and filtration is the restarted.
Abstract:
A device for the collection of water from a granular material bed filter includes means for injecting water and air through the filtration bed as well as an outer chute provided with a weir for the discharge of water, characterized in that it is made of a storage capacity placed between the filter and the discharge chute and defined by a vertical perforated wall such as a grid situated in vertical alignment with the filter vertical wall, and a plane slanting inwardly to the inside of the filter, said slanting plane connecting the weir for the discharge of the water via the chute to the filter wall situated below the vertical perforated wall such as the grid.
