Abstract: This invention relates to improvements on rotary engines having annular cylinders, each having at least two pistons drivable in rotation therein, the pistons being fixed respectively to concentric shafts that are thereby independently rotated around their concentric axis. Each of the concentric shafts extends through all the cylinders, which are formed by rotatable discs within an annular master cylinder. The concentric shafts are supported for rotation by bearings mounted within the end housings of the annular master cylinder with each of the concentric shafts having an end extending through one of the end housings for connecting to means for independently coupling the two concentric shafts to a common eccentric shaft.

Abstract: An internal combustion rotary volumetric motor operating on a four stroke cycle including a fixed exterior housing which delimits an annular space, a plurality of pistons that rotate in the same direction mounted in the annular space, a rod having a shaft integral therewith diametrically connecting the pistons in pairs and propelling the pistons by cyclical speed variation which causes a volume variation in the space delimited by radial surfaces of the pistons, the spaces between the pistons forming chambers of the motor operating on a four stroke cycle, a rotary crown having a plurality of ports formed therein, wherein the annular space within which the pistons move is delimited by the housing and the rotary crown having the ports through which the rods are engaged and which provide an angle of clearance for the rods for advancing and receding of the pistons, the rotary crown forming part of an outlet motor shaft, and a transmission mechanism attaching the rotary crown to the shafts.

Abstract: An angular cylinder piston combination is disclosed for providing compression and expansion chambers in a large number of items, such as compressors, pumps, internal and external combustion engines, hydrostatic generators, air motors, and the like, in which compression and expansion chambers are formed angularly, inside a cylindrical drum which rotates at substantially uniform velocity "Wo" and connected to the output shaft. The chambers are formed between N outer radial pistons provided by the drum and N inner radial pistons attached to an inner rotor which accelerates and decelerates from zero velocity to a velocity "2Wo" with respect to a stationary housing. The inner rotor comprises a sleeve overlaying the output shaft and rotatably displacable in relationship therewith. A single port per chamber provides intake and exhaust as it comes into juxtaposition with slots, azimouthally cut on the base of a stationary housing. The inner radial pistons, oscillating within the angle subtended between the outer pistons, do not cross the ports. Lubricating oil can then be permitted to run between a pair of sealing elements positioned along those edges of the pistons which slide with respect to other members of the angular cylinder. The application of this angular cylinder provides the basis of an improved Tri-Rotor device.

Abstract: A rotary engine having an annular cylinder with more than one piston drivable in rotation therein, the pistons being fixed respectively to concentric hollow shafts that are thereby independently rotated thereby around their concentric axis. Crank members, at least one per piston, are mounted in ball races that are eccentrically fixed to the respective concentric shafts, the crank members extending diametrically across their respective concentric shafts. An eccentric drive shaft displaced radially from the axis of the concentric shafts mounted for rotation in and extending through said concentric shafts, the eccentric shaft defining diametric holes for slidably engaging the crank members without loss of rotational motion while allowing the crank members to move simultaneously toward the away respectively from the eccentric shaft axis at constantly varying speeds and directions to thereby rotate the eccentric shaft. Both eccentric and concentric shafts are mountable in ball races fixed in a motor housing and the ends of concentric shafts for support of all shafts at their respective ends. As many as four pistons can be mounted in each cylinder respectively fixed to a concentric shaft and collars sleeved for independent rotation on said shaft, and additional cylinders can be added to extension of an end of the eccentric shaft.

Abstract: A rotary piston engine with a plurality of sets of annular members forming cylinders and annular segment pistons moving inside the cylinders and provided with a hollow shaft and a core shaft extending coaxially therethrough and with a common shaft. A transmission is provided for connecting the central and core shafts to the common shaft whose axis is eccentric to the other two shafts. A central ring arrangement is provided which is connected by links to double-crank connectors mounted on the central and core shafts by links. Abstract: An eccentric rotor vane device that may be employed as pumps, blowers (or compressors), engines, or motors, characterized by an improved seal structure; in addition to conventional main chamber; first and second ports communicating with the main chamber; a plurality of annularly related radial vanes, independently pivotal and rotatable about a vane axis within the main chamber; a rotor that is eccentrically mounted with respect to the main chamber; a power delivery shaft connected with the rotor. The improved seal means, in specific embodiments, comprises a plurality of cylindrical rollers that serve as vane guides intermediate each pair of adjacent vanes. The cylindrical rollers adjacent each face of each respective vane engages its lateral face such that a satisfactory seal is made as the roller traverses radially inwardly and outwardly along the lateral face of the vane. Thus, the plurality of rollers serve as at least a part of a piston as well as an interdigitating means for effecting a change in volume of a subchamber defined intermediate the respective vanes, rollers, and interior wall in the main chamber. Also disclosed are improved vane structures for maintaining more nearly perfect seals for long service life.
