A bladed reactor for pyrolysis of hydrocarbons comprises a rotor with blades that form an axial-flow blade cascade, a fixed torus-shaped hoop that adjoins the tips of the blades, and a housing that encloses the hoop and a rotor periphery so that a passage having a ring shape of its meridian section is formed. One or more partitions are installed in the passage, an inlet port is located directly after each partition while an outlet port is located directly in front of each partition. Nozzle vanes forming a nozzle cascade are installed upstream of the blade cascade, and diffusing vanes forming a diffusing cascade are installed downstream of the blade cascade. There is a vaneless space between the exit from the diffusing cascade and the entry into the nozzle cascade. A group of nozzle vanes arranged directly after each partition may be separated off from the remaining nozzle vanes by a bulkhead so that a channel is formed which connects the corresponding inlet port with separated group of nozzle vanes to simplify the reactor starting.

It is described a method and a turbine for expanding an organic operating fluid in a Rankine cycle, the method comprising the step of feeding the operating fluid to a turbine provided with a plurality of arrays of stator blades (S1-S4, AR) alternating with a plurality of arrays of rotor blades (R1-R5), to define corresponding turbine stages, constrained to a shaft which rotates on the respective rotation axis. The method comprises the further steps of: a) causing a first expansion of the operating fluid in one or more radial stages (S1-S3, R1-R3) of the turbine, b) diverting (AR) the operating fluid exiting from the radial stages in a direction axial and tangential with respect to the rotation axis, and c) causing a second fluid expansion in one or more axial stages (R4, S4, R5) of the turbine. Step b) corresponds to an enthalpy change of the operating fluid equal to at least 50% of the average enthalpy change provided for completing the fluid expansion in the turbine.

A turbine pump includes a casing having an inlet, an outlet and front and rear arc-shaped pump passages and an impeller. The impeller has plural impeller partitions respectively disposed between every two of the blades thereby forming impeller grooves at front and rear sides of the partitions and an outer ring at the peripheral edge of the blades. Each impeller groove, each of pump passage and the outer ring form a space for circulating fuel. The outside diameter of the impeller is smaller than the pump passages so that the impeller does not contact the pump passages.

The present invention relates generally to a turbine engine (10) comprising a housing (12) in which a rotor (14) is rotatably mounted. The housing (12) of the turbine engine (10) is of a split casing construction including a center casing (24) sandwiched between a pair of outer casings, namely an inlet outer casing (26) and an outlet outer casing (28). The rotor 14 is shaped circular in profile and includes three working surfaces generally defined by a peripheral surface (32) and a pair of opposing sides surfaces (34) and (36), respectively. The peripheral surface (32) of the rotor (14) which acts as a fist stage of the turbine (10) includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced and generally axially directed ribs in the form of a series of arcuate flutes such as (38). The rotor (14) also includes a plurality of angularly spaced and radially extending rotor blades such as (40) which in transverse cross-section are aerofoil shaped with at least a portion of the concave or generally flat and convex surfaces of each of the blades (40) defining two further working surfaces of the rotor (14).
