Abstract: An apparatus including a body tube coaxially mounting an internally threaded lower cylindrical skirt at a lower terminal end thereof for securement to a valve member of a conventional automotive tire. An apertured cylindrical web is mounted adjacent an intersection of the tube and cylindrical skirt, including an axial rod fixedly mounted projecting coaxially of the skirt for projection and depressing of a central displacement needle seat, as utilized in automotive valves. A flexible web formed of memory retentent material is mounted adjacent an upper terminal end of the tube below a translucent viewing lens. The web includes a rigid boss member mounted thereon, whereupon proper inflation within an associated tire permits projection of the boss against the translucent lens for viewing of the boss' indica of proper inflation, whereupon deflation permitting the web to deflect and displace the boss relative to the lens provides visual indication of underinflated condition.

Abstract: A manually-operated device for safely inflating automotive vehicle tires. A pressurized gas cylinder is connected to a manual valve for delivery of pressurized gas to a vehicle tire. The gas pressure is safely controlled (regulated) by a stepped piston that is slidably arranged in a vent chamber. A small diameter rod section of the piston is aligned with a valve seat in the main flow passage. Pressure rise on the large diameter section of the piston causes the rod section to temporarily interrupt the main gas flow. Gas is vented around the large diameter section of the piston to enable the rod section to move away from the associated valve seat, thereby permitting gas flow to resume through the main passage.

Abstract: A valve cap adapted to be screwed onto the valve of a pneumatic tire gives a pressure drop indication. To this end the valve cap comprises a deflectable diaphragm which separates the housing interior into a first chamber adjacent a transparent section of the closed housing end portion and a second chamber which is in communication with the tire interior through a port formed in a transverse housing wall and through the open tire valve. When the valve cap has been tightly screwed onto the tire valve and the tire valve has been opened, the desired tire pressure will be built up in both chambers. Upon closing of the second chamber a reference pressure corresponding to the desired tire pressure will prevail therein. Any reduction of the tire pressure relative to the reference pressure will cause the diaphragm to converge towards the transparent housing portion, thus serving as an indication.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a low tire pressure warning device which includes a housing, a bladder and/or spring loaded piston within the housing and a colored warning streamer. The housing has an elongated chamber, one end of which communicates with the interior of the tire and the other with the exterior of the tire. In one embodiment, a bladder is mounted within the chamber of the housing so as to expand and contract in response to tire pressure increases and decreases. The bladder, upon contraction, axially moves a spring-loaded piston so as to "pop out" the colored warning streamer. In another embodiment, a closely fitted spring-loaded piston without the bladder responds directly to changes in the tire pressure and spring motivates the colored warning streamer.

Abstract: A device for indicating when the air within a tire is above or below an optimum pressure range, comprising a housing having a bore therein in which a piston is movable. The piston is spring biased toward one end of the bore and is normally held in a medial sealing position by air pressure from within the tire. In such sealing position, a sealing ring on the piston engages a sealing section of the bore to prevent movement of air along the bore; when the air pressure exceeds or falls below the optimum range, the sealing ring moves over a relieved portion of the bore and allows air to move along the latter to actuate a whistle carried by the piston. An electronic device senses the whistle and signals the operator.

Abstract: An air leakage warning device for a pneumatic tire is described which comprises a housing member including in longitudinal direction a cylindrical intermediate section, an enlarged cylindrical lower section connected to the cylindrical intermediate section through a shoulder portion, and a four-sided upper section having a circular at the outmost end; a cylinder or tubular member containing a perforated piston means and a coil spring responsive to a predetermined pressure within the tire, the upper end of the cylinder member being inter-connected with the lower section of the housing member while the lower end thereof is secured to a base member which is adapted to be secured to the air filling valve stem of the pneumatic tire; a rubber ball being freely movable in the space defined by the housing member and the upper end of the cylinder member; and a rubber sack forming a receiver for escaping tire air and adapted to be ruptured by its contained air pressure so as to give an audible signal, the rubber sack having an inwardly directed annular rim integrally provided on the circumference of the sack opening to be firmly anchored between the cylinder member and the base member. When the air pressure of the tire is reduced to the predetermined value, the piston means will open the air filling valve to permit the escape of the air from the tire into the device and thereby to inflate and rupture the rubber sack. Thereafter, the rubber ball is blown into a position inside the four-sided upper section of the housing member to block the circucular opening of the housing member and thus prevent further escape of air.

Abstract: A operatively attached constantly ready-for-use self-contained tire valve and companion air pressure indicating device having an elongated barrel or tube with an axial bore, said tube providing a core for the overall device. A normally closed conventionaltype tire valve is telescopingly fitted within the outer screwthreaded end portion of the bore and is accessible for attachment and association therewith of an air pump hose. The outer end portion of the tube is externally screw-threaded to accomodate a protective screw cap and also a valving nut for air exhausting and bleeding as hereinafter set forth. The inner end portion of the tube is embedded air-tight in a central or axial portion of a rubber adapter base. The base is peripherally grooved and adapted to be lodged and retentively anchored in an opening provided therefor in a portion of the tire rim. Cylinder means surrounds a predetermined portion of the tube and more specifically comprises inner and outer concentric cylinders with the space therebetween providing a pressurized air trapping chamber. Inner end portions of the cylinders are also embedded in the base. The base has slots or openings allowing the air from the tune to pay back into the chamber. A spring-biased piston, is confined for sliding movement in the chamber and has suitable O-rings to provide shiftable but air-tight contact between inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the piston and cylinders. The outer cylinder has a graduated scale and the coordinating piston provides an indicator for measuring association with the graduations of the scale. Exhaust ports at the outer end and an opening and closing and valving nut on a threaded portion of the tube make it possible to exhaust air from the chamber to permit accurate operation of the indicator.
