摘要:
Discharge ports of liquid floor finish applicators are known to clog if proper steps are not taken immediately after use. Complicating this clogging problem are the facts that floor finishes are formulated to dry quickly when exposed to air and applicator cleaning creates waste and takes considerable time and effort. Accordingly, applicant's invention addresses the problem of clogging by using a liquid reservoir to enclose the applicator's discharge port thus preventing it from clogging when not in use. To illustrate applicant's invention, a backpack floor finish applicator system dispenses liquid floor finish through a hose and a pump that forces the finish through a nozzle onto the floor. The invention uses a non-contact switch that activates a light which alerts the operator when the nozzle is exposed to air which will cause clogging thereby reminding the operator to position the nozzle within the liquid reservoir when not in use.

A liquid floor finish application applicator comprising a mobile unit and a wand unit. The mobile unit comprises a handle and wheels. In the cart is positioned one or more sources of floor finish, and a pump for delivering the floor finish to a length of liquid conduit. The wand comprises a distribution head typically a mop installation. The wand also comprises a spray head that can deliver the liquid floor finish to the floor. The conduit is in liquid communication with the wand. The spray head is configured to avoid dripping between finish application. The drip free head results from the aperture size of the spray aperture surface. The lengthy conduit between the cart and the wand permits ease of application by a two man team. A first man operates the cart while a second man operates the wand.

A mop assembly is provided to uniformly and controllably apply and distribute liquids to the surfaces of exposed floors. A tank having a teardrop shape in the transverse plane maintains a low center of gravity and a relatively thin cross-section which along with the handle passing centrally through the tank permits the mop assembly to be used under low obstructions. Clamps around shouldered openings at either end of the tank through which the handle passes seal the tank. A control rod inside a sleeve passing through the tank permits operation of a control valve on a discharge port at the bottom of the tank. One head attachable to the mop assembly consists of a plate to which a porous pad is attached. The liquid is fed through tubing connected to the discharge port to dispense liquid through the pad. Another head consists of an elongated plate having an attached fiberous pad and a liquid distribution header which has a multiplicity of holes along one edge. A resilient connection secured between the head and the handle biases the head to fully contact the floor.

A combination cleaner, polisher and waxing device for walls and floors which includes an elongated handle having a pad carrier connected to the handle at one end thereof. One side margin of the pad carrier is weighted so as to permit the carrier to assume a generally vertical position for wall cleaning when held spacedly above the floor by the handle. The handle carries a liquid dispenser means which is connected by a conduit to the carrier and which serves to dispense a liquid into the pad of the carrier for use upon the wall or floor. The handle of the device is preferably of a two-piece construction which enables an auxiliary cleaning tool to be attached to the detachable handle piece when separated from the remainder of the handle.
