    摘要: The coupler height of a railway car is adjustable by means of a shim disposed between the coupler carrier and the wear plate and inserted through an opening provided at one side of the striking casting. An enlarged central portion of the shim extends toward the draft bar yoke of the coupler to avoid any reduction of bearing surface between the coupler carrier and the wear plate. A portion of the shim also lies within the side opening, which opening is defined by an enlarged outwardly extending portion of the striking casting having holes therein in axial alignment with a hole in the shim portion for the reception of a fastener to retain the shim in place. The aligned holes are offset from the longitudinal centerline of the shim so as to effect a misalignment of the holes upon incorrect insertion of the shim. Moreover, either the upper surface of the carrier member or the lower surface of the wear plate is convexly curved for effecting a self-alignment of the coupler with a mating coupler as the wear plate is permitted to rock about its transverse axis to thereby effect a uniform interface pressure between the wear plate and the coupler.

    摘要: A cushioned underframe of the sliding sill type is provided with a cushion pocket within which a hydraulic cushioning unit is disposed. The cushion pocket which includes an opening in the bottom wall of the stationary sill is normally covered by a cover and carrier plate which is removably connected to the stationary sill. The cover and carrier plate is provided with an anchoring s top which projects downwardly below the carrier plate and is supported on a base plate which is connected to side shear plates, in turn rigidly bolted to the side walls of the stationary sill. The cushioning unit and anchoring assembly with the carrier plate provide means whereby the cushion may be readily installed and removed in the cushion pocket.

    摘要: Stop means for a railway impact absorbing device includes a stop member adapted to be secured to a portion of the sill structure of a railway car. The stop member has a base portion which is secured to the outside wall of the fixed sill structure of the car and horizontal inwardly extending portion which extends through a slot in the fixed sill to co-act with the cushioning device of the railway car. When used in a railway car with a sliding sill, the stop member also extends through a slot in the sliding sill of the railway car, and other stop members are secured to the sliding sill above and below the first stop member. The second stop members also co-act with the impact absorbing device.
