    摘要： A loop cutting apparatus for a cut pile tufting machine including looper hooks, for cooperating with corresponding reciprocal needles, mounted in a hook bar supported on a looper rocker arm for pivotal movement about a hook shaft, the knives cooperating with the looper hooks being fixed in a knife bar supported on a lever member mounted for pivotal movement on the looper rocker arm, and a drive mechanism operatively connected to the looper rocker arm and the lever member for reciprocally moving the rocker arm and lever member simultaneously in opposite directions for cooperative movement of the knives and hooks to form cut pile. The loop cutting apparatus is further characterized by locating the pivotal axis of the lever member at an elevated position upon the looper rocker arm so that the movement of the knives relative to the looper hooks is substantially vertical, thereby requiring less reciprocal movement of the hooks and knives for effectively cutting the loops seized by the hooks.

    摘要： A looper comprising a looper main body of steel and a blade of cemented carbide alloy. The looper main body includes a mounting portion, a vertical portion provided at the right end of the mounting portion, a horizontal portion extending from the upper end of the vertical portion horizontally rightward and a tip portion extending downward from the right end of the horizontal portion. The blade is attached to a continuous hook-shaped recessed portion formed in the main body and defined by the inner edges of the vertical portion, the horizontal portion and the tip portion. The looper is highly resistant to wear, flexible, inexpensive to manufacture and capable of efficiently cutting chemical fibers which are difficult to cut.

    摘要： A tufting machine arranged to produce cut pile carpets and having work feeding and tuft forming devices including a reciprocable eye-pointed needle movable through a backing for the carpet between retracted and extended positions, has a double looper with a lower bill and an upper bill off-set from the lower bill. When the looper advances, the upper bill passes entirely outside the loop formed by the projecting needle so that a single long loop is formed around the lower bill only in each succeeding loop-forming cycle. In a tufting machine arranged to produce relatively dense ''''U''''-cut pile tufts, the single long loop around the lower bill is deformed, and a yarn severing knife severs the yarn adjacent the lower edge of the lower bill to produce cut pile of a substantially uniform length. In a tufting machine arranged to produce high shag carpets, a yarn severing knife cooperates with the upper bill to cut one leg of the needle loop adjacent the bottom edge of the upper bill, thereby forming a short pile length and a much longer pile length to produce a pronounced ''''J'''' cut pile tuft.
