Abstract: An electrically-actuated variable camshaft timing (VCT) phaser is employed for use with an internal combustion engine (ICE). The electrically-actuated VCT phaser includes a gear set assembly and a fixture. The gear set assembly has an input gear and an output gear, among other possible components. The input gear receives rotational drive input from an engine crankshaft, and the output gear transmits rotational drive output to an engine camshaft. The fixture is secured in the gear set assembly. Amid installation of the electrically-actuated VCT phaser on the ICE, the fixture constrains rotational movement of the gear set assembly. After installation, the fixture can be removed from the gear set assembly.

Abstract: A first rotator (6) includes an internal gear (14) and rotates in conjunction with a crankshaft (4). A second rotator (12) includes an output gear (121) and rotates in conjunction with a camshaft (3). A planetary rotator (13) includes a planetary gear (131) that meshes with the internal gear (14) and the output gear (121), and the planetary gear (131) meshes with the internal gear (14) and the output gear (121) to perform planetary motion, thereby changing the relative rotational position between the first rotator (6) and the second rotator (12). An input shaft (16) causes the planetary rotator (13) to perform planetary motion. A first bearing (18) is interposed between the input shaft (16) and the first rotator (6). A planetary bearing (17) is interposed between the input shaft (16) and the planetary rotator (13), and is included on the same plane orthogonal to the rotation axis (O) as the first bearing (18).

Abstract: A cycloidal pin wheel harmonic transmission device includes camshaft, flexible bearing, flexible wheel, roller pins and rigid wheel. The flexible bearing is mounted on the camshaft with elliptical shape. The flexible wheel has inner ring cooperated with outer ring of the flexible bearing, and outer teeth surface contacted with each roller pin. The roller pins are evenly disposed inside semicircular groove of the rigid wheel. The flexible wheel is fixedly connected with inner ring and the rigid wheel is fixedly connected with outer ring of the main bearing. Both teeth height and root have cycloidal teeth profiles reduces the risk of breakage failure, possible to obtain larger engagement without deep engaging distance. Teeth width is large, used for the engagement, the surface specific pressure is small. It is possible to withstand large torque to reduce the amount of deformation of the flexible wheel, and to greatly improve the longevity.

Abstract: The present disclosure employs a pair of camshafts for intake valves. A first phase controller is installed at a first end of the first intake camshaft connecting to the crankshaft. A second phase controller is installed at a second end of the first intake camshaft connecting to the second intake camshaft. Each phase controller can adjust phase angle accordingly to modify intake valve timing and intake valve lift. This set up is duplicated for the exhaust valves to modulate exhaust valve timing and exhaust valve lift. First and second camshafts are connected via a series of levers, which merges the rotations of both camshafts into one. The phase controllers can be differential gear sets, epicyclical gear sets, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: An improved internal combustion engine utilizes at least one orbital pin eccentrically offset from an orbital shaft, rotationally linked to the main shaft via an epicyclic gear set, such that the piston and connecting rod, influenced by the force from thermodynamic process, transfers a straight linear force to the orbital epicyclic pin further via the flying crank arm to the main shaft. This results in an extended but mechanically adjustable constant volume combustion period up to 60° with improved piston to crank relationship throughout main conversion angle. The extended dwell duration and new piston to crank relationship at TDC and BDC improve the engine operation as well as its scavenging efficiency and cleanliness.
