An MTI with no blind speeds which compensates for antenna scan modulation.his design includes circuitry for generating and transmitting consecutive first, second and third doppler-tolerant FM pulses, wherein the first and third FM pulses have a given dispersion characteristic, and the second FM pulse has a dispersion characteristic which is the complex conjugate of the first and third FM pulses. Circuitry is then provided for receiving and compressing the first, second, and third echos from the first, second, and third pulses, respectively. Finally, a processing circuit is used to effectively add the first and third echo pulses and to subtract twice the second echo pulse from this sum to effect the detection of the moving target.

The invention relates to a process for adapting the post integration in a switched pulse repetition frequency radar and a circuit implementing this process. For that, the post integration of the detected signals is effected as a function of the signal received from the Doppler filter. For that, switches are used controlled by comparator circuits.The invention is useful in frequency ambiguous coherent Doppler radars using recurrence frequency switching by blocks.

In a moving-target indicator in which the pulse-repetition period of an associated Doppler radar is subject to variation, incoming echo pulses appearing in the output of an i-f stage of the radar receiver are demodulated with the aid of two coherent reference signals in relative quadrature and the results are digitized for transmission over two parallel channels. In each channel, digitized signals corresponding to two consecutive echoes in a given range cell are subtracted from each other to provide a pair of difference signals which are passed through a weighting device for multiplication by factors which are trigonometric functions of a selected Doppler frequency and of the difference between the actual repetition period and a theoretical constant value of that period. The weighted signals are subjected to further filtering before being utilized for further processing or display.

Pulse radar apparatus capable to generate cyclically a train of transmitter pulses with interpulse periods T1, T2, T1 + Delta T and T2 + Delta T. This apparatus comprises successively a receiver, a digital double canceller with a periodic shift time equalling the smallest interpulse period, a digital-to-analogue converter, a standard-pulse generator, a digital delay-line integrator with said periodic shift time, two parallel-connected branches meeting at a gate circuit, one branch comprising, successively, a first comparator and a correlator, and the other branch a second comparator and a delay element with a delay time of Delta T. The threshold level of the first comparator is maximally equal to that of the second comparator. On the receipt of each two sequential video signals with an interval Delta T the correlator causes that the gate circuit blocks the access to a PPI for the corresponding video signals supplied via the delay element.

An AMTI radar in which the transmitted pulse train is comprised of multiple PRFs which are sequentially switched in a predetermined order during a target dwell time. A digital MTI comb or notch filter having a controlled reject and pass band characteristic for each PRF is utilized such that when operating in one of the lower PRFs, a wide notch characteristic is used for a time after radar pulse transmission during the interval which will provide unambiguous range for the highest PRF, i.e. during the interpulse interval of the highest PRF. Then a narrower notch characteristic is used for the remainder of the interpulse period of the instant PRF. A composite notch filter characteristic is thus obtained for all of the PRFs during a specific target dwell time which will reject not only ground clutter, but also low speed ground moving targets while passing relatively high speed airborne target returns during at least one of the PRFs.

An azimuthally scanning, pulse-energy system employing doppler processing of clutter-referenced received echoes of pulsed transmission, including means for improved discrimination between high-speed moving targets displaying ambiguous doppler shifts and targets of lesser velocity. The pulse repetition rate of the pulsed energy system is periodically alternated between two rates, and the received signals associated with each pulse repetition rate separately doppler processed. Variations in the apparent doppler shift of a target in response to variation in the system pulse repetition rate is deemed indicative of a target of interest.
