    摘要: A passive impact sensor for a projectile configured to explode, destroy with kinetic energy, embed or pass through an object with a closing velocity greater than 1,000 m/s. The passive impact sensor includes an energy generating system comprised of a crystalline structure that stores latent polarized electrical energy. The crystalline structure is responsive to an impact generated shock wave that propagates at least partially through the crystalline structure to consume and depolarize the crystalline structure and release at least a portion of the stored energy to generate a voltage pulse across output terminals. An onboard antenna is configured to transmit an RF pulse responsive to the voltage pulse (direct or integrated) external to the impact sensor (and projectile) before the sensor is destroyed by the shock wave. Multiple energy generating systems can be positioned either together or fore and aft and their voltage pulses summed to transmit the RF pulse. The benefits of this device include the ability to determine impact force, impact velocity, impact angle, target mass, target density, and direct or glancing impact.

    摘要: A discriminating deceleration sensing electrical switch assembly is enclosed within a munitions projectile for providing an electrical circuit path between a pair of electrical contacts upon deceleration of the projectile being greater than a selected deceleration threshold value. The discriminating deceleration electrical switch assembly includes a switch support having a bore hole for holding a spherical mass or ball. A tactile dome switch or snap switch is juxtaposed between an electrical contact assembly, including a pair of electrically conductive surface regions, and the spherical mass. The components are arranged along the munitions firing axis such that, upon sufficient deceleration along the firing axis, a force acting on the spherical mass will cause the dome switch to deform and contact the conductive surface regions to provide switch closure. Electrical wiring leading from the electrically conductive surface regions are intended to be electrically connected to a detonation control circuit so as to initiate detonation of the munitions. The switch may also be configured as an acceleration switch without the spherical mass and, alternatively as a combination acceleration/deceleration switch.

    摘要: An improved construction for a percussion fuse. The fuse function has a firing pin rigidly mounted in an ignition head an adapted to coact with a percussion cap mounted in an impact member. This impact member is securedly maintained in a first position by means of at least one blocking sphere which is partially mounted in an annular groove of the impact member and partially mounted in a bore of the cylindrical forward portion of the percussion fuse body. A movable inertial sphere is disposed in a chamber between the impact member and the ignition head. In order to improve the fail-safety there is mounted in this chamber a housing between the impact member and ignition head which is coaxially movable with respect to the firing pin. When the projectile is accelerated forwardly the housing moves against the impact member and the movable inertial sphere is clamped between the impact member and housing to thereby prevent a further relative motion between firing pin and percussion cap and to thereby prevent detonation of the percussion cap. During normal deceleration prior to target impact, the housing moves back from the impact member and allows the inertial sphere to roll into the annular chamber of the housing. This allows the impact member to move forward and thereby allows the percussion cap to impact the firing pin when the projectile impacts the target.
