Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide a dynamic query execution model. This query execution model may provide acceleration by scaling out parallel parts of a query (also referred to as a fragment) to additional computing resources, for example computing resources leased from a pool of computing resources. Execution of the parts of the query may be coordinated by a parent query coordinator, where the query originated, and a fragment query coordinator.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for attachable-and-detachable database sessions. In an embodiment, a database platform receives an attachment request from a client during a connection-specific database session that is set as a current database session for the client at the database platform, requesting that the client attach to an attachable-and-detachable database session that is maintained in data storage by the database platform. The database platform sets, in response to receiving the attachment request, the attachable-and-detachable database session as the current database session for the client at the database platform. The database platform determines that the client has detached from the attachable-and-detachable database session, and continues to maintain the attachable-and-detachable database session in the data storage.

Abstract: A method of sharing data in a multi-tenant database includes inspecting, by a processing device of a multiple tenant database, a sharer account to determine a presence of a grant to a second role object, in a target account, of access rights to a first role object included in the sharer account. The method includes granting the second role object, in the target account, access rights to an alias object. The first role object having one or more grants to the one or more resources of the sharer account. The target account accesses the one or more resources using the one or more grants of the first role object and using the alias object without at least one of copying the one or more resources or transmitting the one or more resources.

Abstract: A method of implementing object tagging framework starts with the processor receiving a tag creation command including a tag name. In response to the tag creation command, the processor creates a current tag. The processor then receives an association command, the tag name and a source object identifier. The processor determines a source object associated with the source object identifier. The source object includes a tag value. The processor associates the current tag with the source object. The processor receives a replication command including the source object and a target object. The processor causes replication of the source object to the target object that comprises replicating the current tag with the tag name and the tag value in the source object to the target object. Other embodiments are also described herein.

Abstract: Resource provisioning systems and methods are described. In an embodiment, a system includes a plurality of shared storage devices collectively storing database data, an execution platform, and a compute service manager. The compute service manager is configured to determine a task to be executed in response to a trigger event and determine a query plan for executing the task, wherein the query plan comprises a plurality of discrete subtasks. The compute service manager is further configured to assign the plurality of discrete subtasks to one or more nodes of a plurality of nodes of the execution platform, determine whether execution of the task is complete, and in response to determining the execution of the task is complete, store a record in the plurality of shared storage devices indicating the task was completed.

Abstract: Techniques described herein can optimize usage of computing resources in a data system. Dynamic throttling can be performed locally on a computing resource in the foreground and autoscaling can be performed in a centralized fashion in the background. Dynamic throttling can lower the load without overshooting while minimizing oscillation and reducing the throttle quickly. Autoscaling may involve scaling in or out the number of computing resources in a cluster as well as scaling up or down the type of computing resources to handle different types of situations.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for scheduling of data processing tasks are disclosed. A method includes performing a modification on a first set of immutable partitions storing database data to generate a second set of immutable partitions. The second set is associated with a modified version of the database data. A change tracking entry is entered in a stream of tracking entries based on committing the modification. The change tracking entry includes an indication of the modification on the first set of immutable partitions. A stream offset of the stream of tracking entries is advanced based on the entering of the change tracking entry in the stream of tracking entries. The stream offset indicates a timestamp associated with a latest committed modification to the database data. A data processing task is scheduled for execution on the modified version of the database data based on the advancing of the stream offset.

Abstract: Security credentials associated with a first account maintained by a database system are authenticated. Based on authenticating the security credentials, a user interface element is provided to enable sharing of customer data associated with the first account with an application. A request to share customer data with the application is received. Based on the request, third-party data that is accessible by the first account is identified. The third-party data corresponds to a second account maintained by the database system. The second account corresponds to a third-party data provider. The application is enabled to access cloud data associated with the first account based on the request. The cloud data comprises the customer data and the third-party data.
