    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes first and second conveying members arranged with an axial angle, for conveying toner in first and second containers, and a conveying driving portion. The conveying driving portion includes a motor, a first gear, a second gear, a third gear, a swing gear, an idle gear, and a fourth gear. The second gear is fixed coaxially with the rotary shaft of the second conveying member. The swing gear swings on the outer circumference of the first gear rotated by a motor and meshes selectively with one of the second and third gears. The idle gear meshes with the third and fourth gears. The fourth gear has an axial angle between its input and output shafts and is fixed coaxially with the rotary shaft of the first conveying member.

    Abstract: A reading portion generates an original image including an image of a document sheet. A first document sheet end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is equal to or greater than a threshold value, identifies a peripheral edge shape of the document sheet by detecting a shadow portion that occurs at a peripheral edge portion of the document sheet in the original image. A second document end detection portion, in a case where the thickness of the document sheet is less than a threshold value, identifies the peripheral edge shape based on a specification by the user. A document sheet size determination portion determines a size of the document sheet according to a result of shape identification by the first document sheet end detection portion or a result of shape identification by the second document sheet end detection portion.

    Abstract: A toner conveyance device includes a vertical conveyance portion, a horizontal conveyance portion, a conveyance member, and a loosening member. The vertical conveyance portion conveys a toner or developer conveyed therein through an entry port connected to a main-body-side conveyance path by causing the toner or developer to fall vertically. The horizontal conveyance portion is connected to a lower end of the vertical conveyance portion and conveys the toner or developer in a horizontal direction by using the conveyance member. the loosening member is arranged at a first position below a connection portion between the main-body-side conveyance path and the entry port and at a second position protruding upward beyond the connection portion. A toner loosening mode is executable in which the toner or developer is fed into the vertical conveyance portion so as to cause the loosening member to reciprocate at the second position.

    Abstract: A fixing device includes a fixing belt, a pressing roller, a flat heater, a heater holder and a pair of mounting members. The flat heater has a first surface coming into contact with an inner circumferential surface of the fixing belt and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The heater holder comes into contact with the second surface of the flat heater. The mounting members comes into contact with both end portions of the first surface of the flat heater in the width direction, and are mounted to the heater holder such that the flat heater is held between the mounting members and the heater holder. The mounting member includes a downstream side end surface contact part which comes into contact with a downstream side end surface of the flat heater in the conveying direction.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing member, an electrostatic neutralizing member, a heater, and a melting portion. The fixing member comes into contact with a sheet to which a toner image has been transferred and fixes the toner image to the sheet. The electrostatic neutralizing member is electrically grounded and provided so as to be in contact with the fixing member. The heater is provided above a lowermost portion of the fixing member facing the fixing member, and heats the fixing member according supplied power. A melting portion is provided in an energizing path between the electrostatic neutralizing member and ground, and melts in a case where a current exceeding a predetermined threshold flows.

    Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a correction processing unit prints a test pattern using a recording head, determines ink ejection malfunction positions on the basis of a scanned image of the test pattern, sets one of first and second correction modes for each of the ink ejection malfunction positions in accordance with a density of the ink ejection malfunction position on the basis of the scanned image, and performs the correction process for the ink ejection malfunction position in the set first or second correction mode. In the first correction mode, the correction process is performed for both a nozzle corresponding to the ink ejection malfunction position and an adjacent nozzle of the nozzle. In the second correction mode, the correction process is not performed for the nozzle corresponding to the ink ejection malfunction position but is performed for the adjacent nozzle.
