    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has a front end, a rear end, a longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends, an air flow passage, an air treatment member, an outer wiper, and a front door. The air treatment member includes a treatment chamber having a porous dirt separator. The wiper travels across at least a portion of an outer wall of the porous dirt separator as the wiper moves between a first position to a second position. The front door is moveably mounted between a closed position and an open position, and is drivingly connected to the wiper whereby when the front door moves from the closed position to the open position, the wiper travels from the first position to the second position. A hand vacuum cleaner also has a first cleaning stage which is rotatable to an open position wherein as the first cleaning stage is opened a wiper cleans a porous substrate.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has a main body housing a suction motor, the suction motor having a suction motor axis of rotation. A cyclone assembly is removably mounted to the main body. The cyclone assembly comprises a first cyclonic stage and a second cyclonic stage. The first cyclonic stage comprises a first stage cyclone, and the second cyclonic stage comprises a plurality of cyclones in parallel. The first cyclonic stage is provided at a front end of the hand vacuum cleaner, the second cyclonic stage is positioned rearward of the first cyclonic stage, and the suction motor is positioned rearward of the second cyclonic stage. The first stage cyclone axis of rotation, the second stage cyclone axes of rotation and the suction motor axis of rotation are parallel. The first stage cyclone axis of rotation extends through the second cyclonic stage and the suction motor.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus includes a floor cleaning unit and a portable surface cleaning unit. The floor cleaning unit includes a surface cleaning head, an upper section moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head between an upright storage position and a rearwardly inclined floor cleaning position, a charger having an energy storage member, and an air flow path extending from the dirty air inlet to a floor cleaning unit air outlet. The portable surface cleaning unit is connectable to the floor cleaning unit, and includes a portable surface cleaning unit air inlet connectable in air flow communication with the floor cleaning unit air outlet, a main body, an air treatment member, a suction motor, a handle and a capacitor. When fully charged, the energy storage member stores sufficient stored power to recharge the capacitor at least twice.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has an upstream air treatment stage having an upstream air treatment member and a longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends of the downstream air treatment stage, and a downstream air treatment stage a downstream air treatment member and a downstream dirt collection chamber that is exterior to the downstream air treatment member. The downstream air treatment member is positioned rearward of the upstream air treatment member. The downstream dirt collection chamber extends forward of the downstream air treatment member to a location that is forward of the rear end of the upstream air treatment stage.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus including an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet, a main body comprising a handle, a suction motor and fan assembly that is positioned in the air flow path, and an air treatment member removably mounted to the main body. The air treatment member has an air treatment chamber that is positioned in the air flow path when the air treatment member is mounted to the main body and a cleaning tool electrical connector. When a cleaning tool is connected to the air treatment member, the cleaning tool is connected in air flow communication with the air treatment member and the cleaning tool is electrically connected to the air treatment member.
